after a lot of stuffing around with offsets and Mt tire options in 18' I went back to a 17x8.5 wheel with the km2's 285 70 17.
and no rubbing.

They would be +6, that is exactly the wheel I am looking at for the 120. Dick Cepek torques in gunmetal

Yep there a +6. I got them of tire rack from the states. Turned up at my door in 7 days. For $600 less including shipping then I could get them here.

Im in the same situation at the moment... Looking to put either Mickey Thompson 275/70R18 or Cooper STMAXX 275/70R18 on the factory wheels and really don't want to have to spend the extra on wheels. You say that you tried all other options... Am I wasting my time trying to fit one of the tires above without rubbing?

That was my first look too.! In the st max.

I have the cooper at3 in 275 65 18 on a + 18 offset wheel and they just touch the kdss arm at full lock under load.

Sorry mate but no way will that size fit on the standard wheel. That's the same size the tyres the arb prado has on it on their web page and they stated it had major issues too.

Even if you changed to a different offset in a 18' I think that they will still be to tall.
My 285s are a fair bit smaller then the 275 70 18 and they just clear the under edge of the bull bar. It's a arb Sahara bar.

I tried doing it cheap and going with a 17' steel but unless you go to a 0 offset which will hang way out and throw crap everywhere then nothing will work.
Dynamic claim that there's are made for the prado however their is only about 1 mm clearance of the calliper which I wasn't going to risk. Hence the 2nd set of alloys

Thanks for the info Stu. It sounds like you really have done all the hard work so I'll go with that and choose a set of 17" wheels to suit. Hopefully in the long run the cheaper price of 17" tyres will offset the extra cost.

One more question Stu... Are your tyres inside the line of the front and rear guards (to keep them legal), or do they hang out slightly?

If you stick with a 17' it should be fine it will be the offset to keep in mind when choosing a set. Any where from a 0 to +12 should be fine to fit 285 70 17s if you have kdss id keep it around the middle.
With the +6 offset on 285s the sidewall is just out the side of the guard when lookin straight down. No tread is hanging out. Here in qld the tire size is not legal at all, not sure wat the go is in wa but it sounds better then here.

Hi mate, just to confirm, are you running the 33's with your 2" bilstein lift and standard UCA's? Everything I have read so far says UCA clearance is a problem?

I want to go 33's on a set of Fuel Hostage rims (+14) but trying to avoid more suspension work as I have only had the king/bilstein setup in for 6 months. I want to get the superior 3"/4" lift when I win lotto, but too much other work to do.

I have the pedders over bilstein lift with the standard uca's with the +6 I can fit my hand between the tyre and UCA so it clears it fine. Not sure how you'll go with the +14.

The 4 inch would be the go but with kdss I'm stuck with the 2 unfortunately.
