Having trouble deciding on what brand and model tyre to buy (tow a caravan and do beach driving - 80 bitumen/20 off-road). Bridgestone Dueller 697 'looks' good but attracts criticism in the wet on bitumen. The Dueller A/T 693 rates 'fair'. Any constructive comments/criticism would be greatly appreciated.

If your only off-road is beach work look at the Pirelli Scorpian ATR. I had them for 60k. Still tread left. Good grip on the road wet or dry. Needed a more adventurous tyre for a future trip so swapped them out for KO2s.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Agree with mj, I do rate the D697 quite well, but the Pirelli is cheaper, better on road and handles the beach great. Just don't ask them to do mud. Personally I wouldn't waste my time with the 693, quiet tyre but you can get better for less.[LEFT]Silver 150 Facelift

Yeah, the 697's are a really good all round tyre, the Pirelli's are more suited to road and sand, they don't like the mud from what customers have said.[LEFT]Silver 150 Facelift

They do like mud. They grab it and fill up the tread grooves...Originally posted by AussieAndy View PostYeah, the 697's are a really good all round tyre, the Pirelli's are more suited to road and sand, they don't like the mud from what customers have said.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

I had Cooper ST on my last Prado and they were good off-road, but a little noisy. Went Cooper AT/3 this time. Nice quiet tyre, good on the bitumen and handled some mud quite well last weekend. Overall, pretty good tyre. Not sure what they cost - I asked for them to be put on the new car before delivery.2016 Crystal Pearl Auto VX 2.8, TJM Bar, Safari Snorkel, Cooper AT/3, OME 50mm lift, Dual batts
