Vibration damper. Would be a rare car to still have it.

The rubber is gone, should i be worried if just left it with no rubber. But the clanking sound is really annoying tho.

The exhaust pipe does not appear to be hitting the damper part. Is that location the source of the noise?
Could the noise be a piece of muffler baffle that is broken away and rattling inside the muffler? Sorry, I have forgotten where the mufflers are located in the Series 90, except the one at the rear.

If you worried about removing it just leave it there but tape it into position and pump polyurethane sealant around it to secure it. Smooth off with a teaspoon and turps to make it look nice. Mine is still there, I see no real reason to remove it

No it does not hit the exhaust, its just loose because the rubber is gone. When engine is running, it rattles alot which makes the annoying clanking sound.

i'll try slipping some pieces of cut rubber from old tyres.

Edit : i skipped doing this, some friends said the rubber will melt from heat, or worse it may catch fire.
