Perhaps, if room in the container, and its coming to Melbourne, we can help with transport cost, by adding some items, as well as using our shipping agents, who handle vehicle shipping for the Maserati/ Ferrari /Alfa/ lambo importers in Aus.

can also unload at our shop, if it suits, get container delivered to there, what ever suits, anything you need done, pricing what ever, just let me know

I can definitely share a container. I prefer shipping from the east coast. I will PM.

      Thanks,

I will need to get a little GTG in Victoria for those who want to see the FJ.

I want to make it over to ARB, so that may be a good place to start.

e-mail sent. Hopefully we can get a fit. It's almost as much to ship one vehicle as 2.

Re: Help an FJ get to the PP GTG

              Well,

I'm sorry to everyone that was helping me get my FJ to Oz for the GTG, however I have abandon the attempt and rent a Prado down there. I have come up with so many problems associated with the economic meltdown that every road block was just costing too much money. On top of that my savings were dwindling with the stock market and I don't think there will be much of a recovery before the trip.

I will be arriving in Sydney and head up the gold coast to meet up with FF&R for the Simpson crossing. Mav will be helping me with renting an outfitted Prado and a T-van. from there I don't know what I'm doing, but can make plans to head off to another off-roading spot before heading stateside.

Thanks to everyone who helped. Hope to see you on July 4th.

              -Ben

Re: Help an FJ get to the PP GTG

                  Well,

I'm getting so excited I'm loosing sleep. I'm getting a lot taken care on my end.

-My Passport expires in March (go figure)
-You need a visa to be a tourest in OZ (and even pay for it)
-I still need to order a Swag
-Negotiate food and campground stuff W/ LF&R

I'm probably going to skip all the tourist stuff in Sydney, Melbourne, & even Kakadu and just hit the trail.

I will probably add more later, but it looks like it's happening.

                  -Ben

Re: Help an FJ get to the PP GTG

I just need to stuff a set of BFG A/T's, and OME lift & some bash plates in my luggage.

I should tell you the story of an American tradition called 'Rent a Racer'. Now the term has been reborn to include the line of high powered vehicles you can rent from Shelby Mustangs to HO Corvettes, but in the 60's the term meant something completely different.

In 1966 Hertz rent-a-car added 1001 1966 Shelby GT-350H fast backs to the rental fleet. They were rented for $17.00 per day & .17 cents per mile and if you were over 25 you had the keys to an American classic. OK, this is where the story starts applying to the situation. There were a lot of local racers who would rent the Shelby on Friday and transplant the 310 HP engine into another vehicle, race it for the weekend, and spend Sunday afternoon putting the engine back into the Shelby before returning it back to Hertz.

I can put on an OME suspension in about 2 hours and put on the A/T's when finished.....whala, and OZ Rent-A-(of)Roader.

Sounds like a great opportunity to try those mods we've all dreamed of but didn't weren't game to do:
                          2" body lift
                          6" suspension lift
                          35" tyres
Hire a LC200 as well and do a V8 swapp

                              Well,

Air fare has been booked for a while. I sprung a few extra $$'s and an extra layover in LA so I can fly the A-380 'down there'. I think it's worth the extra cost as an aviation enthusiast just to try it out. Once the flight is complete I would of flown in the top 5 largest passenger aircraft.

I have bought a good back pack, hard shell travel case (actually my roof top storage), a better cold weather sleeping bag, and a nicer camera outfit.

I still have to order the swag and have it delivered to LF&R's casa. I settled on the Mr. Swagman Deluxe. I will keep it for a long time and need to get a sturdy one. It's also made in OZ, so it's helping someone stay employed.

I have to get my OZ dollars. the US dollar sunk like a lead blown this afternoon and need to get it while it's still at a good rate.

                              See you in <3 months.
