Well my trip to the GTG starts for real tomorrow morning (having unofficially started on tuesday with a trip to the parents place in Dubbo). The Prado is packed and I'll be meeting up with Dobbo at the thriving metropolis that is the town of Nevertire on the Mitchell Hwy in the morning before heading to White Cliffs for the night, then onto Cameron Corner and beyond to get to Alice.

You can follow our travels to the GTG on my SPOT page:

Excellent Jeff, Nevertire is the town I head for before making the decision which way to go - head north to Brisbane or south to Newcastle.

Have a great trip and I will follow your SPOT progress.

We set off for the PP GTG over a week ago now and have travelled some 3,300km yet are still no closer to our final destination

We're currently in Wilmington after completing the Oodnadatta Track. So far everything has been fantastic, although it's currently raining here.

How's the Oodnadatta track looking? We'll be on it in the next few days.

No worries at all. We ran about 27 psi in our tyres and kept our speeds to between 80-90km on the good stretches. Although, there has been some rain about and this can change the road conditions very quick. We had some overnight rain at Dalhousie Springs (last Saturday), but nothing to worry about. A bit heavier winter rain overnight at Coward Springs on Wednesday and Thursday morning - but still good.

Our extra heavy duty mud flaps worked at treat, but are much worse for wear now. Will need to replace. But we never had any problems with rocks at all. No significant damage to our camper trailer, Prado or windows.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Track. It was a fantastic journey with heaps to see and explore with the kids. I hope you have just as much fun D4D. 8)

We've been on the road for nearly 2 weeks now and have kept a blog reasonably up to date to keep in contact with anyone who cares. The site is http://stelzertrip.blogspot.com/

We are planning to get into Ross River Resort a day earlier than the official GTG start date, just to get a bit of rest before we are Green for GO !!!!

                    See you all then.

PS - I think we "almost" ran into Ben and Matt (pradopoint sticker on back window) between Dalby and Mitchell on Monday 22/6 and then spotted their car later in the evening at Mitchell outside the Artesian Spa (now confirmed by spot). All to be confirmed.

                    Ben

We're 95% packed and ready to go at 8am tomorrow morning 8)

Only issue today was finding out the wheel nuts for alloy rims don't work on steel rims ops: When I bought the steel wheels, Mr Toyota told me they were the same nuts on the GX and GXL :x A quick dash to the only open tyre place at 3pm and I have 2 sets of shiny new nuts

Im glad you discovered this. I just bought a new steel rim as a second spare. Just waiting for a second hand tyre to put on it.

I didnt even think about the wheel nuts...... Wouldnt have been much fun going to change the tyre only to find the wheel nuts didnt fit ops:

Well JeffH and Dobbo seem to be having a good time, looking at Jeff's SPOT track they have left White Cliffs and traveled to Silverton near Broken Hill. Looks like they spent Saturday night at Silverton and are having a look around it today.

EDIT: Well I guess the boys or should I say families were a tad hungry cause they have made straight for Maccas in Broken Hill.
