    Yes I think it would make a good central camp, not far to some other great spots from there.

      Hi Folks

      Apart from the fact that you could keep everybody amused in Landcruiser Park for several days, the state forests in Qld are now open without permits, there are some really good tracks just outside LCP.

        I lieu of other PradoPoint members, from other states, who have not yet indicated they want to host the 2011 GTG, I am proposing to hold the 2011GTG in SEQld with a committee to run the event as suggested by Richo. We have heaps of PP members in SEQld who have indicated that they would like to assist in organising the event also.

        I am proposing to hold a BBQ breakfast at my place commencing at 7am and afterwards host the committee in deciding what to do for the 2011GTG in SEQld. This will get the ball rolling and put SEQld as front runners for the 2011GTG.

        I propose the following dates for our first committee meeting/BBQ:
        Saturday 22 Jan
        Sunday 23 Jan
        Sunday 30 Jan (I cant do 29 Jan due to helping my better half's father into his new home)

        SEQlders who are interested in a committee run GTG, PM me with your preferred dates and I will let you know what to bring along.

          My Mate from Dirty Weekends got back to me with this as a possible tag along route.

          I can see an interesting week-long tagalong through SEQ  featuring a good variety of scenery, terrain and private 4WD parks.

          Brisbane, Samford, Dayboro, Mt Mee, D'Aguilar, Glass House Mountains, Peachester, Maleny, Bellthorpe, Conondales, Sandy Creek, Booloumba Creek, Jimna, Landcruiser Park, Mt Buggery Rd, Imbil, Ammaoor, Mothar Mountain, Kin Kin, Cooloola Way, Pettigrews Rd, Teewah Beach, Double Island Point, Rainbow Beach, Freshwater Rd,Teewah Beach, finish at Noosa.
          I can send contact information to the powers that may be.

          If we can sponsor this I would like to come down for it, but would be driving a LC 105 and not a Prado. I hope I will be accepted (it's better than the Thrifty from the Red Center GTG).

            I guess the other consideration is whether the GTG should be a base camp with day trips or a tag along with overnight stays.

            I for one would prefer a base camp with day trips as I'm guessing others with young families would too.

              I believe that Gordo was thinking about running a tag along tour from NSW somewhere up to SEQ, and then base camp and day trip from there, best of both worlds really.

                Hi Folks

                Jan 30 is my best bet as I'm away at Straddie this weekend. I think the decision between a fixed base and trips is very important. I'm happy to go either way but I would like to suggest that we start a quick poll on what the members that can attend would prefer. I don't know how to do that so can a Qld'er interested in being a committee member arrange this?

                    Does this mean you are the first starter for the 2011 Qld GTG? I had a spiritual message from the Pradopoint Fairy recently and it appears that the Pradopoint Fairy Association is looking for new members.

                        What about Eldee Station, near Broken Hill??

                        This could be a great spot to either base cap or use as a 1 or 2 night stop over for a Tag-along type tour, similar to the First GTG.

                        I would prefer a Tag-along style as you see alot more, and therefore more interesting than Base Camping.

                          Heaps of great potential spots for a get together, however, unless there is a group willing to sponsor, support and run the event, then it's all mute.

                          Great to see the SEQ crew getting things together. This looks very promising indeed. I'm waiting with bated breath.
