Definately a long way from finished on the recce front! Gee it would be nice to be out every other weekend doing a "recce" but unfortunately life seems to get in the way of having fun all the time...... eer not that we have any fun on the recces, its strictly hard work.

We are back off down south again in a few weeks to explore a bit further and check out a few options for the last couple of days.

Personally I am off on a trip in April, I intend to check out a few tracks and places that are unlikely to be included in the trip, but in the name of being thorough it needs to be done. Some of my findings might be useful for those coming to the GTG that might like the heads up on the Oodnadatta track, Mount dare, Simpson, Birdsville, Strezlecki Track, Innaminka, Coongie Lakes..... Thorough eh

Border track in May, Bendleby in June, we will probably slot a couple of others in somewhere else, gee I am getting tired just thinking about all the work we have to do

      Cheers Andrew

Yeah I got a copy a read that after Richo mentioned it! Its more a story about Ngarkat in general rather than the Border Track. The Border Track is a lot more than the 29km they mention which is just the one way section!

              • Well the end of February is coming to a close meaning it must be getting very close to the release of the GTG web site which in turn means we can then register and pay.

So how is the web site going?

                  • I am tuned ready to go Micheal.

The GTG dominates the conversation when I am home. Everything from what to do to the Prado or camper to what we will pack to eat. The whole trip will be a big deal for us as it will be the first time out of the state camping for us but also the longest we have camped as a family. The longest up until now has been three nights so a HUGE learning curve.

                      • If you want to help me get this one past swmbo, can a rear diff lock be on the list of minimum vehicle requirements?

Yes a rear locker is a minimum requirement for White 90 series Prados from SA, everyone else should be right without the locker though

                            • Good to know I have the right recovery points and straps. Recent pay rise will help fund any additional requirements need to attend this great GTG.
