Around Perth, I've had 2 quotes both giving me 'little maneuverability' around the current promotional sticker price of $64,990 for a diesel GXL auto
One gave me an offer of mats and metallic paint 'thrown in' with accessories at cost (~1k for a reese hitch)

Should i be able to squeeze a lower price out of these guys?

Just got a June 2016 build Graphite GXL Auto with Towbar, mats, bonnet protector for $60,621.

BTW - And to those lusting after leather... Doyle's Interiors (most dealers use them) offer 7-seat Premium leather installed for $2800. They also have Nappa leather for around $300 more - after seeing it personally, both are better quality than the OEM leather. You also have a huge selection of colours, finishing and other bits (leather on dash etc). This price includes the door trims and centre console. If done at the same time, you can get 2 x front heated seats for $990.

I also came from leather. I'm going to get the bar work/ lights etc and wait for the kids to ruin the rear seats (say, 2 months) and then swap over to leather.

You could say that for $64K or thereabouts I got the car drive away with leather and heated seats fitted.

Good work mate. Dealership/supply chain or production? Hopefully the former.

What's your annual limit of car purchases btw?

    Hi All,

My purchase is due to arrive in the country in a week or so, so excited! This will be my first brand new car, hopefully pick up around mid October.

VX (I am with ArcticSoldier, couldn't justify the additional pricetag on a Kakadu) in Crystal Pearl.
We compared the GXL and the VX (and compared each of those to the Fortuner, Prado won!) and I wasn't a fan of the GXL interior seats, I had always said I did not want Leather, but sitting and driving in the VX made that change completely. I can't wait to take this offroad (although hubby will be doing most of the driving)

It is a September Build, ordered early August, so 2.5 months from order to delivery (approx)
The dealer has been good, nothing bad to report, just a waiting game, and their delivery team keep me up to date when I request (I am also stalking the online tracking page)

It will come with a tow bar, rubber mats (incl cargo mat) and a tinted bonnet protector. for $72700.

The first dealer we went to, didn't want a bar of me when I wanted the same for 75K and wouldn't even give a counter offer. I am glad I continued to shop around, I am so much happier in the place I purchased the vehicle off.

The only major thing I want to have put on in the next few months is a ARB bar.

I am looking at all of the different accessories for the Prado, so will start deciding on what I want to go on it.

    Happy 4WD'ing

Thanks again..........now got the tint included all round but not sure on front windscreen. They said they would do this but then when I got home found the following on the Dept Website so not sure if its legal if they do the front wondscreen......now we have seen a few Prado going around with front windscreen tinted so a bit confused, are there insurance issues etc

Please note: Tinting may be fitted to the upper portion of a windscreen of a motor vehicle. The tinting must not extend lower than a horizontal line connecting the uppermost points of the arcs swept by the vehicle manufacturer’s original wiper blades or upper 10 percent of the windscreen, whichever is the lesser.

    VX

Used to have Prado 150 series GXL and now have Prado 150 series VX. VX is a much, much better car. Both for the way it rides on road and off-road as well as for its interior and extras that come with it.

Kakadu is small inside for headspace due to its low ceiling/roof - it is negatively impacted by sunroof and rear ceiling mounted screen.

TBH the interior of the GXL generally sh1ts me with the fabric seats and trim gathering lint and dust non-stop (coming from prev leather interior). Maybe it's just me and my family or because the fabric lay is like a lint-removing brush. Has crossed my mind a few times to have the whole thing re-done in leather, then you ask yourself how that could possibly make $$ sense, prob cheaper to sell car right now and get a deal on VX. There's a few other pluses about the VX that might be worth considering for self justification. Note the KDSS restrict selection of aftermarket susp parts if that's relevant to you.

skippy1 - rear passenger windows and rear privacy glass/windscreen are tinted oem. I suggest you ask for tinting on front driver & passenger (and confirm many, many times) to be the darkest legal tint to match the rear windows. Even after doing that they stuffed mine up and did it in a sh1tty bronze colour that made the exterior appear brighter. I complained & they replaced it. I think you get a lot more options and people who understand what they are doing when dealing with tint shops directly, but then it won't be covered by warranty. PM me for ideas on how to have it thrown in for nada.

I seem to see people tend to purchase GXL rather than VX/kakadu versions. I understand it is cheaper and the money you save can go towards mods. Im tempted to purchase a VX for the added luxury as i cant justify 85k for the kakadu, even the everest titanium can be had for 73k at the moment because they arent selling :P are people happy with the interior of the GXL compared to the VX/kakadu?

Thanks for that................again new to the tinting (and Aus).....what tint should you get. The GXL has privacy glass. Do you get it on all windows or just the side windows. What % is best?....... don't want to end up looking like a Gangsta Is its sole purpose to reduce the heat in the car. I gather the UV protection that is standard on the normal windows cuts the UV pretty good

New Here and my first post. Just about to get my first Prado, I think , and looking at the 2016 GXL 2.8 Auto Diesel. Have been quoted $62k for the Basic model. No trade in and paying cash. Will end of month next week make it any easier to haggle?....... Reading here would suggest I should be able to get tow bar thrown in for this price.
Would I be better getting ARB colour coded Bar myself?
Have not bought from a dealer in Aus before so not too sure how much bargaining power I have. North of Brisbane on Sunshine Coast and willing to travel a bit to get a good deal so any advice or recommendations on dealers would be really appreciated.............Great info on the forum

    Many thanks
62k should get you tint and a towbar included.
As for the bull bar buy it separately (to avoid dealers overcharging) unless you want it added to your finance.
