    Re: pricing for the 150

I wouldn't be at all surprised if these prices come down after a year or two. They really do just seem too high as you guys are saying. I'd sooner settle on a Pathfinder than pay that sort of money.... just not worth it. 80 - 100k is a hell of a lot to be spending on a camping tourer. There's other alternatives to be had for that sort of money as stated. You'd have to say Toyota will need to drop prices if they want any real sales figures going forward. Once the initial rush of interest is over it'll be very interesting indeed to see what happens.

        Re: pricing for the 150

Just got back from my local Toyota dealer, who I have purchased my last 120's from and he has always looked after me.

My current 2007 GX Manual D4D T/D was $49396 drive away with Snorkel, Barrier T/B, ARB B/Bar and Opt pk1. The quotw on my desk for the new Prado is mistifying....

Prado 2010 GX Manual D4D T/D is $56248 drive away with only a Barrier and T/B as extras. That a $7k differnce and I have no snorkel or bull bar.

My generally gives me around $6500 to $7000 in fleet and dealer discounts. This time around only $4300. Toyota are no doubt holding onto any discounts in the early months to guage interest, however even with an additional $2500 in discounts I'm paying $53429. I'm still short an ARB bull bar and a snorkel, plus $4000 and to top things od the new GX has no side steps.......

        WHAT DO I DO??

I can get a PooTrol for less.....
I can wait for the new Challenger....
        OR
Do I go for a ute....

          Re: pricing for the 150

I went to Maitland toyota this arvo and was told approx $60k for TD GX auto drive away, and $$65-66k for GXL TD auto drive away, zero options on both.

these are not firm quotes, I will have them tommorow, but is about what I was expecting and based on that I think a VRX TD Pajero will be filling the shed before a GXL Prado.

quoted a new build 2010 Pajero with towbar, snorkle and rear camera for $65k drive away.

I will want to drive the tojo but it had better be good to be same price as VRX and no leather etc

I was suprised with the spec level of GXL, climate control etc, so I is nice but hard to dump mid 60's on.

I will be ordering before new year to get hold of Kevies bonus.

              Re: pricing for the 150

I got prices yesterday afternoon on both the GX and GXL

              Both D4D Auto.

              Metalic paint at $390.

              No other options

GX drive away buisiness rego $57,600.

GXL drive away buisiness rego $64,600.

              Order now for Feb delivery.

I am going to drive the Pajero VRX which is the closest one in spec to the prado GXL, which is the front runner at the moment.

I drove an Auto D4D yesterday, only had 32km so engine was TIGHT, but it went OK, very quiet, the three zone Air con is great, work well, in general I was pretty happy with car.

Towbar at $903. + GST + LCT + Stamp duty runs out to over $1400., I think a trip to ARB soon after delivery.

                Re: pricing for the 150

Well, as much as I hate to say it I think this will be my last Prado.

I have novated leasing available to me through my work. When I leased my 2006 Grande with spare wheel cover, reversing camera and roof racks it cost me $32K per year out of my gross salary. The lease finished in April and I now own it. I've just had a look at the pricing for the new Prado's. To replace it now with the (stupidly) named Kakadu V6 without the options it will be $45K PA. Can you believe that!! The best I can get for the same money is a GX.

It will be interesting to see what happens to sales? I think Toyota have just handed a heap of sales to Nissan, Mitsubishi and Land Rover.

At least the values of the 120's will hold up.

                  Re: pricing for the 150

Has anyone done the comparison in price between a GXL prado 150 with the normal bar work and lift compared to a similar spec Pajero with the same plus long range tanks?

While I am not in the market for a new wagon anytime soon, with the look and price of the 150 prado, I think that my next prado will be a pajero (I wonder if you can still get factory fitted lockers for the paj?).

I reckon the Pajero drives like crap and it was noisey, prado might be expensive but the pajeros are constantly been discounted which us not good for resale. Don't thonk about the price now, think resale in a few years.

                      Re: pricing for the 150

We have a specialist auto consulting division in my firm.

I mentioned I was looking to buy (Prado or Patrol) and was told very clearly this is the absolute worst time to buy a new car. The Rudd incentives boosted sales hugely and now supply is limited - no new Patrols to buy in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago.

Hence the dealers and manufacturers have no need to discount to promote sales as they have had a bumper period and can afford to hold out for higher prices.

I will buy a new car - but it will probably be early to mid next year when things are a bit tougher for the car companies 0r when our auto guys say is the right time. Not particularly helpful but they told me about 4 months ago was the best time to buy for years - great advice now. Not!!
Silver 2005 GXL Prado, Petrol, auto, gold plated rated recovery points, 60ltr Waeco, Vacation Camper, Gunyah side shade, 265/65 17R Pirelli Scorpian ATR tyres (x4) and 1 new Grand Crapper (spare), Max Air II plus still lots of recovery gear!! And PradoPoint sticker!!

Wish list - ARB steel bull bar, 2 inch lift, dual battery system, snorkel, milford cargo barrier, black widow rear draw system and rear lockers as well as new bash plates for the ones I have trashed. Oh and yes a 150!!!

                        Re: pricing for the 150

I mentioned this much earlier but wanted to revisit it,.......has anyone worked out the LCT (Luxury Car Tax) component with regard to pricing for the 150series yet??
In short, Luxury Car Tax is calculated as 33% of the GST exclusive portion of the vehicle purchase price over $57,180.
Before the release of the 150 there were RRP prices discussed of nearly 70k for a GXL (I would guess on-the-road). Understandably, if purchasing under a fleet price, the RRP is significantly reduced.
However the new model puts it above the 2009/2010 ATO Threshold of $57,180. Surely this alone would make buyers nervous, and I'd be curious to see how sales go.
By the looks of this a GXL, VX and Kakadu would all fall under LCT. or have I missed something??
Or are the prices quoted here on PP an all-up price from the dealer which includes the LCT component (if applicable) in the purchase price.

                              Ladies and Gents

I have 2001 105 Series GXL and was waiting for the 150 - at these prices, Toyota can keep their car and I will keep my 100 Series.

                              Why wouldn't anyone just walk straight past a 150 to a 200?

I look at what I use my 100 for (e.g. Bourke, Wanaaring, Whitecliffs return to Melbourne of Melb Cup weekend) and I just can't see me bush bashing a $75 Prado out there!

I must be getting old or poor or something - $70-80K for a Prado GXL/Kakadu ???

                              I am missing something here

Got a quote yesterday for a VX Auto V6

Drive away price $81,780 including: Metallic Paint $364, Full size alloy bull bar (not yet available) $2829, Floor mats $145, Tow bar $943. That's about $77,500 without any extras. LCT component $4,624. A nice little earner for the government.

Drove both the diesel and petrol models. For my money the quietness, smoothness, and power of the petrol edition outweighs the economy of the diesel, for my needs anyway.

Incidentally, the leather in the VX and Kakadu isn't real leather anymore .... it's synthetic. Not that you could tell the difference by look and feel, and probably easier to maintain. The new VX also loses the plastic wood trim too which is now only on the Kakadu.

Lovely cars to drive. The steering wheel even tilts up when you turn the ignition off ..... most impressive!!
