  • Re: pricing for the 150

Hi Second Prado for me..Updating my 2003 120 diesel..Have ordered a diesel Auto GX (Need all the boot space I can get) And is still better optioned than my current GXL (Will be selling my GXL Privately after delivery) Any interest ??..Currently Mid April Delivery to my Door in Regional SA with a full tank of gas for the grand prize of 60K no inclusions. This was purchased at the end of December when dealers where having a feeding frenzy and not willing to budge much on price. But the 50% investment allowance still makes it cheap motoring..

I think some Kakadu owners maybe getting a bit emotional about the 4x4OTY test after forking out their hard earned. At the end of the day IMO there were 2 conclusions

1: Landrover are light years ahead of everyone in their development of GENUINE, USABLE and EFFECTIVE driver aids and 4x4 vehicles, Toyota are the same years behind yet still like to charge for them (I.e why the f@$K do I want all those cameras when I have windows??)
2: Buy a GXL, spend half the difference on accessories and you will own a weapon off road with great build quality, resale value, good on road manners and so on.

Just my opinion and not trying to offend anyone.

Having driven with a Kakadu on a recent trip I can say the cameras are awesome for navigating steep, rocky tracks. I thought they were a w@nk but I'm now converted.

            HI guys and gals,

I think the real world pricing of the new 150 is not as high as the quotes people have been using.

I have ordered a new 2010 GXL d4d auto (Silver Pearl) with no options except $60 of fuel (wow!) and a tow bar at dealer cost.. (also wow!).

            Drive away 63K

Sounds a lot better than 70K

            Cheers

            Sean

PS Only bummer is the 12 week wait

All I can say is that the new 150 I recently ordered should be cheaper than my landrover disco II that I only owned for 9 months...TD5 diesel engine blew up, ABS system needed replacing, engine wiring harness full of oil and needed replacing, front drive shaft replaced (wobbling), new turbo... maybe it's just the way I drive ?

                Hi folks

All the talk of high prices needs to be considered, car companies are all about negotiation, a dealer friend of mine years ago told me the prime time to buy a new car is the last week in January, the slowest car sales month of the year, with runout models for sale. I picked up a 12/09 150 GXL auto v6, in stock, the colour I wanted, delivery time two days, last week in January for $57k drive away with a tank of fuel.

Thats a discount of $8800.00 off retail, you may ask why a petrol, with no discounts and monthes of wait time for a diesel, $8800.00 of the difference in economy should keep me going for about 11.5 years at our current k's per anuum and I have 202kilowatts to play with.

See ya in the bush, Richo.

I have what I belive are my final quotes and now its decission time.

Option 1: 2010 build GX Manual TD (5 seater) with color coded ARB bullbar (inc fog light kit), towbar, cargo barrier, snorkel and tyre upgrade to Cooper ST's - $59,112

Option 2: 2010 build GXL Manual TD with color coded ARB bullbar (inc fog light kit), towbar, cargo barrier, snorkel and tyre upgrade to Cooper ST's - $66,500

Leaning towards the GX as the bulk of the differnce in price is LC tax and I dont want/need the 7 seats.

Any advise/comments on these quotes welcome.

Have you thought about getting the extras fitted at the first service, a lot of dealers will honour the prices as part of the deal you are doing and fit at the first service to avoid the LCT. Although if you don't want the 7 seats then it sounds like decision is made for you cos reading other threads seems like the GX is the only way to go

Also with the money you are saving on going for the GX you should be able to fit the extras missing like the reversing camera, you would probably even get a better sized screen too with an aftermarket fit out, just a thought...

I'm sure ive said it before but i'll say it again.

Luxury Car Tax is only charged on the portion of the car over the threshold. So only on the amount ABOVE the $57123 threshold.

It also does not include stamp duty, registration, third part insurance etc.
It does however include dealer delivery charges.

On a GXL of around 62000 (the price before the other charges) this is how it should be calculated.

                        62000-57123= 4877
                        4877 x 10 / 11 to remove the GST amount = 4433.64
                        4433.64 time 33% = 1463.10

If your dealer is quoting LCT of several thousand dollars on the GXL call them on it as they are probably pocketing the difference.

Welcome to the State of Victoria.....once you cross the LC tax threshold of $57K Stamps go from 2.5% to 5%.

LC Tax is calculated on vehicle cost + accessories + GST.

In any case I wont be getting a GXL..the 3rd row seats are just to much of headache for my situation.

Good to see you're at least buying another Prado. That Pajero talk had me worried about which team you batted for

Hi all, Just thought I'd add my two cents in.

                              I've just signed the contract for a 150 series GXL (white, 4L V6 petrol, auto) for $58k drive away ($59,500 - trade-in).

Sounds a lot better than the $68k rrp
