We have a pajero in the family so here's what I know first hand. The prado floor pan is higher up so doesn't bog as easily on sand. Because the body is one piece with the chassis rails where the diff and suspension is mounted, the only isolation between bumps in the suspension and the body is the suspension bushes and diff mount bushes so the ride can be more harsh on corrugated roads. Prado bodies are mounted on rubber which then sits on the chassis. There's essentially two sets of rubber bushes between road bumps and the body. Pajero's are noisy inside as well. A lot of engine noise comes through. For $15k less than a Prado, a lot of people buy them over prado's. The build quality is a bit cheaper. Polystyrene blocks under the floor carpet to fill voids and provide insulation rather than insulating blanket on thte underside of the carpet. Paint chips much easier as well. The back seats are a bench style seat with a shallow drop so for a medium height person sitting in the 2nd row, their legs will not be resting on the seat with their feet flat on the floor which could be uncomfortable for some people over long distances.
2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter
Prados have a cabin which is separate and isolated from the chassis via rubber mounts. Makes for a far superior ride. Pajeros have a monocoque hull.
Having driven a few Pajeros on corrugated tracks in recent years they will rattle your teeth out, your dash cam will vibrate and can fall off, and you will feel and hear the road.
My Prado is a way smoother and quieter ride especially on corrugations. Dashcam videos don't need stabilising**
For the off-roader, Prados come with long range fuel tanks, GXLs and up also come with a rear diff locker.
The 2,8L Prados are fuel efficient too. My Prado is way more economical on fuel than a mate's shorty Pajero.
However Toyota have also resorted to use of polystyrene in various nooks and crannies.
Pajero is cheaper yes it isn’t as capable off road though, it would be a better tourer for on road it has front and rear independent suspension
prado had ifs and solid axle rear wich is better off road prado is a better built car and had More features
I dont agree with that. The stock Pajero suspension is mush. power to weight better than Prado diesel. Potentially a better out of the box tow rig. Diesels have less drama than Prados.
