      • Is anybody buying the V6 these days? Seems like all the interest is in the D4D!

At least, that's what I'm gauging after reading all the posts in this thread.

God I envy you guys. I can't place an order until mid-next year... at least.

Btw, welcome to the forum Kenny!

        • Hi I'm a nother newbie, I lucked into a GX D4D manual with option pack 1 from Mareeba Toyota, paid the deposit about a month ago. The car was already on order for their stock, should be here in another two and a half weeks. Sold my old car privately on the say so of a Cairns dealer salesman that he could "CERTAINLY" get a car for me (White D4D Man op Pk 1). Paid deposit signed the contract and guess what, suddenly unavailable for 3-6 months. Not a happy camper after that. I was very lucky getting the car on order, but it's not here yet......

Generally a very poor show from a car company (Toyota) in general.

          Cheers Snowy

            • GRRRR! Hands OFF! Geez Chippy you're game though! Wouldn't you get shot walking into a Toyo yard all dressed up in Mitsubishi (Mis**tbus) gear? Still.... what are fellow PradoPointers for?? Yahhhhh! I can't stand it! Need WAPPPT time badly......

Welcome Walter . Congrats on the new delivery. See you on the road someplace!

Welcome Kenny and SnowyFNQ. Funny how things go awry very suddenly the moment you autograph the contract isn't it. Had my fair share of awryness too. I dunno... maybe one fell off the docks and into the harbor. That'll be the next story...... just you wait.

                    • Welcome along Walter, Kenny and Snowy. Geez, this place is growing faster than the Bulgarian ladies weight lifting team.

Seems like total pot luck as far as orders are concerned. If you're lucky enough to walk into a dealership just after someone, with an ordered D4D, has cracked it with being screwed around so much, you can stumble across a ready-to-go unit.

If you go about it the, supposedly, correct way you can be waiting 4 to 6 months  and then it will arrive with the wrong interior or wrong colour alltogether.

It's good to hear that there are some good stories out there ... to try and balance out all of the angst.

It may seem like a really stupid question ... but I'll ask it anyway ... with the guys who are trading up - when you sign the paperwork are you handing over your trade - even with the long wait time - or are you able to keep driving it and hand it in when yours arrives. I can't see a dealer being prepared to wait for their vehicle - even though you have to wait for yours.

I suppose there's one good thing ... when I'm ready to trade up from my '03 V6 there's going to be a plethora of '07 / '08 D4D's ... with loads of options ... for me to take my pick .... and I just have to look on PP to see what kind of K's they've done

                      Good luck fellas.

                      Cheers

                      • Don't know if this is allowed but I had fantastic service from Jarvis Toyota in Adelaide. I flew down from alice and they met me at the terminal gate at the airport, drove me back to the dealership and did a fantastic job of taking me over the Prado. A very positive buying experience indeed.

They also gave me 140 litres free, which I was very appreciative of.

That's where I got mine a couple of weeks ago. Great pre and post sales service so far.. although still waiting on ARB bar etc.. apparently ARB is the bottleneck.

But still I can recommend them.

                              Hey Chippy,

I am considering trading my SS on a Prado. I discussed the trade with the local dealer and they said they would be happy to trade at todays prices, sign the contract and hand the car over when the Prado arrives... Whenever that would be!

To me it sounds too good to be true, but I'll find out in about a week once I finally decide on petrol or diesel. It will be great knowing I'll be able drive my car around until it arrives and get a bloody good price for it.

I'm not holding my breath though!

I reckon you're safe Phil. I'll probably wind up getting one of these 2nd hand shopping trolleys that's only ever been parked on the front lawn ... and even then only occasionally.
