hey everyone Karl here from New Zealand.

I currently own a 2017 RX Navara 2wd and going to be selling it. Looking into getting a 97 Prado (90 series)

Wanting to pick everyones brains on how they run, what to look for when buying one. Ones iv been eyeing up have done between 100,000 and 140,000kms

I will be using it as a daily but then taking it down to the beach to a few good fishing spots etc. Every time I take the Nav out I get stuck. so dont want those issues anymore lol.

Yea im on the hunt to find the lowest kms i possibly can.
IS there anywhere where they leak water inside to look out for or anything that sparks red flags

G’day Karl,
Front upper and lower ball joints, red flag them. I’ve got a 2000 VX, going on 14 yrs ownership with no issues. Just keep up maintenance etc.
# Suspension if factory will likely be had it if she bounces all over the place.
# Never had any water leaks.
# Look for cracking in the engine bay at top of guards where the firewall and guards are joined.
# Dash moves excessively when lifting up and down to check.
# Clunky feeling in steering wheel when turned back and forth with engine off.
Plenty of info on the forum, so will provide you with plenty of research.

Whats the fuel consumption on the diesels? So course its not going to be like my Nav. On a long drive i can just about pull just about 930kms to a tank.

Thats Jim will check the covers
