        • Want RIM will fit - little confused on offset

          Hi Guys,

Read up on the threads here but trying to get around what the standard offset is.

          120 Series
          GX/Standard 17x6" ET50
          GXL+ 17x7.5 ET30 <------ Is this the offset?

The rims that I wanted, MT Sidebiter have a P0 offset. So the guy was saying it will stick out 30mm which is illegal.

          Does this make sense?

So does this mean I have to look for a rim that has a 30mm offset?

          Thanks

          • Yes the standard offset is ET30, P30, +30. If you put on a P0 wheel, the centreline of the wheel will move outwards 30mm. However, if the wheel is say 8", then the outside of the rim will be a further 0.25" outwards.

If you want to stay legal, most states will only allow a track increase of 26mm. Half this and you will only get a change of 13mm in offset allowed. So for the 120, the legal wheel offset is ET17 to ET30.

I have a 150 GXL and my dad has a 120 GXL. He has a set of Cooper ST/MAXX tyres on a spare set of 120 GXL wheels that he's not using (nor likely to use in the near future) and I'm wondering if I can pinch them.

I understand that 120 GXL wheels aren't legal (but will fit) on a 150 GXL because the track decreases by 10mm (ET30 vs ET25).

From reading the whole thread I gather that increasing the track by 10mm is ok - so 150 GXL wheels should be legal on a 120 GXL. Is that true?

If that's the case I might swap his Cooper tyres across to my rims and try to source some spare 150 GXL wheels in case he wants his tyres back for a trip!

                  • +25 offset on 2008 120 GXL - ok?

I have an 08 GXL 120 with standard alloys with +30 offset.

I am looking at some aftermarket alloys and they come in +25 and +40 offset. (Dynamic Hi8 in black)

Am I correct in selecting the +25 offset which is a slight increase in track width?

Pretty sure I am right but would welcome confirmation.

                    Thanks

                    • That sounds about right. What diameter and width is the new wheel you're looking at? That could factor in a change in wheel track

                      • Thanks.

They are 17x8 with offset +25.

                        • I don't know exactly but I think that would keep the stock wheel track.

                          • Track is changed by a different offset regardless of rim width, so a 10mm increase in track which is fine.

                            Cheers Andrew

                            • I just measured the wheels that came with the camper. I thought they were P30 for a 120 but the wheels are the same as above. dynamic 17x8 P25. So I could have left these on the camper... But the alloys look better and have KO2s and not KOs.

                              • Thanks Andrew for feedback.

I have new camper trailer approx 2 weeks from pick up and it has
dynamic Hi8 17x8 with p25 offset (black) and I am thinking about putting the same on the Prado.
