ideally would love to have 265/70/17 wheels for remote/offroad travel
also not sure about legality of going 2 sizes down from 19" down to 17"

I replaced the Kakadu factory 265/60r18 (OD30.5")on 18x7.5"ET25 with 245/75r17 (OD31.5") on 17x6.5"ET15 which essentially is 1" taller and 1" thinner tyre which I was chasing. No fowling of the KDSS components and got the sidewall height/section width I was chasing. My Kakadu has no lift, all standard height. Plenty of room around the suspension equipment for clearance and no sticking out the sides (as to be expected with 245s and ET15).

Fits under spare cover no issues (Toyo Open Country ATII LT245/75R17).

I have put a deposit for new Kakadu.l liked how it drives with KDSS and Airbags the only annoying issue is wheel size
the current model comes with 19" wheels.
what is the smallest wheel size that will fit it ? can you fit 17" ?
Dealer said you can go maximum 1 size down legally. also he mentioned that they tried 17" wheels on Kakadu before and it was rubbing on KDSS
anyone got experience with recent Kakadus ?

Also even IF it cleared calipers (There was some guys grinding the brake caliper body to fit.....) It will not be legal in an accident or insurance situation, unless you can have an engineer sign it off.

No as it will very likely hit the brake calipers.

Offset on both GXL and Hilux rims is more than GX. That means neither are legal on your GX.
