how to convince the minister of finance

OK well I am just about to jump in the deep end and may need a place to sleep tonight .
So the rig is up for new rubber and I really want the 4Ribs, but at close to 2K for a set of 5 I hate to hear whats going to come out when I put that to her
the other option is for a set of Maxxis 771s at about $1100.

Who's got some advice about how to approach this?

the problem is Craig she's not really into the 4WD part, camping yes. Oh and the tyres I have now are past their wear indicators so no 4WD on the current tyres

My approch is:

Dear, Safety first we need to get the MTZ 4rib..(I hope to get mine next week)
Dear, what happens if a roo steps out in front of us..we need to get a BullBar..Safety First
Dear, what happens if we get stuck in a bad place..Safety First..We need a winch...
Dear...we need a lift, so that people can see us above other cars..

just think, after the initial verbal barrage, silence is golden...

at least it is in my house where you can go from days to a couple of weeks with no speakies for being a naughty boy. go on just do it, actually buy a couple sets so you can take some punishment for one of us too

Tell her they will cost $3k and let her go nuts about it. Give it a day and then tell her you have been shopping around and managed to get the same deal for only $2k. She is a woman, how can she pass up such a good deal. Works for me 90% of the time ;-)

Simple, you have to make it her idea to get what you want.

Spindoctor lesson 101: Tell her you need new tyres, no problems yours are buggered, Then tell her you think that you need to go for the new 18" wheels like on the new Kakadu's so you need to spend a couple of grand on new rims cause this is the only size rim you can get the "really good tyres on" find the most expensive 18" tyre you can and tell her this is what you really want, you should be able to get the bill up over 5 grand easy. When she hits the roof, take the beating like a man, back down straight away mumbling something about well i suppose I could get the 4 rib MTZ's they would probably be good enough if thats all we can afford. When she finds out they are less than half the price of "what you really wanted" she will suggest that this is the way to go, she wins the argument and you get the tyres you wanted.

Thus ends the lesson young grasshopper.

Think its going to be a bit "cold" in the house for a while. Just had the chat and got just get the ones you want and we will deal with it.
