Mine is Internet savvy and can get the link from the back of my car, just not interested. Well done on getting the new boots though Andrew.

I started priming mine a few months before the tyres needed changing so she knew it was coming. I told her I'd replace two at a time to try and spread the cost out.

I got a price on two BFG muddies (as promised), and was told they were as rare as hens teeth and it may take months to get hold of them.

I then found a supplier who was able to get a complete set in for me, told her about the supply issues and finding the complete set, and as a result got the green light.

See, there is an upside to the BFG supply issues.

My Minister for Finance said that there was no way was I spending any more money on the car. “You don’t need a winch if you don’t go into dangerous areas”. One month later she came out with me and we lost grip going up a steep hill and slid back for about 15 feet. We would not have got out had it not been for another club member with a winch.

The following day she approved the purchase. Being fitted tomorrow.

Spindoctor lesson 101: Tell her you need new tyres, no problems yours are buggered, Then tell her you think that you need to go for the new 18" wheels like on the new Kakadu's so you need to spend a couple of grand on new rims cause this is the only size rim you can get the "really good tyres on" find the most expensive 18" tyre you can and tell her this is what you really want, you should be able to get the bill up over 5 grand easy. When she hits the roof, take the beating like a man, back down straight away mumbling something about well i suppose I could get the 4 rib MTZ's they would probably be good enough if thats all we can afford. When she finds out they are less than half the price of "what you really wanted" she will suggest that this is the way to go, she wins the argument and you get the tyres you wanted.

Thus ends the lesson young grasshopper.

                Cheers Andrew

I recently replaced the original GrandCraps with Cooper STTs. It was easier not to discuss cost and options, just a case of needing new tyres.

The only problem I had was when I got home from work the next day and was confronted with "what have you done to my car, it sounds like a truck now". I suggested that we could leave the roof rack on all of the time so you can't hear the tyres. Bad move.

I've already got two kids and don't want any more so I guess my nurries were surplus to requirements. At least the Prado goes better off road now.

                    Cheers
                    John
