It's not that bad these days if you choose the right host ... costs have come down significantly in the last few years ... so my other forum photo galleries don't cause that much problem with space or bandwidth anymore.Sim'

I've got a question - why are double spaces between sentences reduced to single spaces when posted?
Sentences SHOULD HAVE DOUBLE SPACES BETWEEN THEM for separation - it is standard typographical layout.

The HTML standard allows for extraneous whitespace to be removed ... doesn't matter how many spaces you insert, they will be compressed to a single space (similarly with tabs), unless you use a HTML tag which specifically honours whitespace.Originally posted by 120GXV6I've got a question - why are double spaces between sentences reduced to single spaces when posted?
No, it is ONE standard for typographical layout, but is completely arbitrary - not everyone does it, and indeed, on the web, it is deemed unnecessary.Sentences SHOULD HAVE DOUBLE SPACES BETWEEN THEM for separation - it is standard typographical layout.Sim'

OK - you got me there. sp sp I had to check the Style Manual - but you are right! sp sp I just like two spaces better and was taught to type that way
Most people on the web carnt evun spel - so I would never use the web as a benchmark for anything.
Will look into HTML - I hate when a computer changes what I do (especially when I don't know it's going to do it). My applications have all the blonde (auto correct) functions turned off before I even attempt to use them
Thanks for the response,

It's great having this site where we can talk all things Prado! One suggestion for this site...
IMHO this site is divided into too many sections for the amount of traffic it gets. I'd think that most of the people who frequent the site would drop by catch up on the latest chit-chat rather than be specifically looking for info on wheels for a 120 series (for example), so browsing through would be made easier with fewer categories. Perhaps the current divisions would be suitable if most categories were getting 10 posts a day.
I'd suggest a general mechanical category, general/random chit-chat category, for sale category and then a few specialist categories (such as 120 specific, 90 specific, electrical, etc). That way most of the tech talk will be in one place, more people would notice tech questions, and the site would appear a busier, more 'happening' place. (See http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/ - most of the talk happens in 'general mechanical.')
I know, I'm new here, so I may not understand the culture here very well and I could be totally wrong... so feel free to disagree!

As for the sections - I don't mind them - and have probably gotten used to them. When I don't have a lot of time I may only check the sections that I have dropped stuff in - there are days where I may not even look at some sections (Ssshhh
- don't let on I said that
 ).

I don't find any real problem with the current arrangement.
Normally I just click on "View posts since last visit" each time I log on and look at what interests me.
It is not hard to search the sections if you are after something specific.
Much rather it in sections than lumped together!Matthew ... Ample Outdoors - Outdoor & Off-Road Equipment

I think the consensus is to leave it the way it is. It works for me - I'd rather it this way than having to trawl through one big section.
The "unread posts" feature is a bit of a curly one, it seems to be a bit of a limitation of phpBB in as far as it marks all posts as read once your session expires, regardless of the "read" status of the message. This make it hard to keep up to date when there are a lot of posts. There is a server-side tweak, I've PM'd Aaron about his some time back with no reply. I guess he's busy.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but i would love to see a quick reply panel at the bottom of the page. Makes things a lot quicker, especially for the guys not on broadband with not having to navigate to another page to enter the reply.
Other forums i use have this feature and i find it to be invaluable.

Thought I'd revise this thread to see how we've gone in addressing some of the 'wish lists' in creating the new forum.
Personally, my one wish list is for the forum to have a unique Pradopoint Banner (image) - even if only similar to the one that Golly created for the PP GTG (which was fantastic IMHO).ntp

Geez, never seen this thread before.
I thought of perhaps a general accessories thread. Things like a UHF, spotlights, tyres (to some extent), seat covers, floor mats and a whole raft of other accessories are common across all Prado models, however information is scattered across the 150, 120, and 90 series sections. Happy to do something similar for the PP Forum banner as I did for the GTG.Pradopoint.com website banner.
I miss the image from the original forum...
