    Hi all

Our Prado is the family vehicle daily/adventurer on the holidays. We currently have a 120, but I'm looking to buy a 150 as the new family vehicle and keep the 120 for adventures.

    2008 GXL D4D (1KD-FTV)
4 Post powder coated Steel Tuff Bar with double side rails and wide side steps (Yes I'm from the bush)
2" OME Lift all round, shocks and springs
IPF Extreme Sport Round spotties with HID internal upgrade (DIY)
Uniden UHF with built in scanner
ARB Dual battery kit (self installed up near passenger side firewall) Flush mounted the aux plug in the rear near the existing 12v plug.
Batteries - Supercharge Silverplus as starter and Supercharge Gold plus as auxillary.
I run a 60L Engel and use a 120w folding solar panel during long stop overs, which plugs directly into my aux battery.
Installed a discharge protection device between my auxillary battery and the 12v plug. (Mainly to stop the engel draining my battery below 11V)
Standard Toyota rails with Slimline roof racks.
Mickey Thompson Baja STZ all round inc spare.
Removed factory 6 stack Head Unit and replaced with a single Din Pioneer Head unit which has Bluetooth everything, and installed the cables to use my existing Toyota controls on the steering wheel.

I do all my own mechanical work and modifications, 2nd owner since 100k now it has over 260k. No injector issues, no oil pick up issues, no issues at all.
I service it well and keep an eye on everything!

And that's about it... Enjoy your Prado.

    Hi,

    My name is Steve,

Long time lurker of the forum, always wanted a Prado. Spent many years on Nissan and Subaru forums and can only speak highly of the forum community when it comes to advice, info, and support. I can only expect the same here!

Looking to do a lot of driving, exploring and camping with the Prado.

We have finally purchased a Prado:

    2009 150 Kakadu D4D Auto
    Ebony Blue
    158,000km
    Mods as purchased :-
    TJM Winch Bar - Black/Chrome

    Future mods planned:
    New "D4D Turbo" stickers
LED Driving lights (I see there's much conversation around Kakadu front camera issues)
New Tyres: BFG or Cooper ST MAXX?
    Spare Wheel spacer
    Roof Racks/Flat Rack
    Winch
    Auxiliary Battery

    Future purchase: Camping trailer

A lot of info on here, it will take some time to figure out what is best for me.
Looking forward to the friendly advice!

PS: Can't seem to find where to get myself a PP sticker? Anyone?

    Regards,

    Steve

    Prado Convert

I have recently bought a 2010 GXL and am loving it! The previous owner did a great job of building it up for offroad. The Prado has:
TJM Bullbar with LED fog lights –12000 pound winch with cable –Lightforce 240 XGT spotlights –GME heavy duty antenna –Uniden 80 channel UHF -TJM Snorkel –Brush bars and ADR approved rocksliders, Kaymar rear bar with dual wheel carrier and towbar, 4mm Heavy duty bash plates, Tough Dog 50mm lift with adjustable shocks, Diff and transfer case breathers, CTEK DC/DC Dual battery management system, Dealer Supplied Electronic and spray rustproofing, Series of 3 auxillary AGM batteries 125ah each (2 located behind rear seats), Diesel Smart secondary fuel filter & Custom Outback Touring Solution Drawers.
I had BFG 265/70 KO2's fitted this week and the Rhino Pioneer Platform goes on next week.

I am loving the information available on the forum which really assisted me to know what to look out for when purchasing a Prado and also what mods & maintenance I can do over the coming year.

My Dad and I are planning on taking the Prado across the Simpson in 2017 so will be keen to gain as much experience offroading between now and then.

I look forward to meeting some of the members in SE QLD over the next couple of months.

1 week of owning the Prado and I must admit it the most comfortable and practical car I have ever owned. Should have got one years ago.
On the first tank of fuel and it will probably do around 1000km on the tank, mostly outer urban running around.
Hopefully this will improve with time.
Other downsides, Toyota Link seems like a waste of time, overtaking takes planning but it cruises at 110km very nicely. Doing a 3000km trip next week so should be interesting to see how it goes.
