  • Re: Introductions

    Hello all,

I am based in Dubai and have recently purchased my first Toyota - 2005 3 door Prado. It is the full option that we get here in the Middle East and comes with the 4.0L V6, 5 speed autobox, 17 inch alloys, etc. Goes very well in the desert with plenty of power. For now, it is completely bone stock but have plans for a stage 1 lift kit from Icon Vehicle Dynamics, bash plates, in dash navigation, and some other bits and pieces. Some pictures below.

    Anybody else here from Dubai?

    Cheers,

    Tom

O.K. been browsing for a while now for info for when the wife and I find a 120.
As has been said a lot, this place is very informative and can also get a man into a lot of trouble with the mods that the wife won't let you have.
(Already racked up 10 - 15 k in mods before we even get the car)

Again all the info is great and can't wait to get the 120.

Good luck on the hunt Junoir. I reckon the 120 is the way to go. Saw a couple of 150 floating around today, one in Moonta and the other in Ardrossan, and it made me so glad I have a 120.

The avatar is kind of freaking me out a little:

          Hi All,

Have been checking out this site for a while and thought I would join in to gain experience through the knowledge and travels of all you learned people.

I have got an 07 GXL with no accessories and have got the wife excited about accessorising (as funds permit) and getting out there. I have 2 kids under 2 and thought 4wding is a great way to get the family involved. My only concearn is that they are too young. I have very little experience so I am really looking forward chatting with you all and going on adventures. I have checked out all the great places you have gone in WA and can't wait.

Going down to Margret River for a week from Monday so might see if I can find somewhere to get off road.

I look forward to my 4wd journey ahead.

Welcome Papo. Don't worry about the kids. We did the Gibb River Beef road when we had two kids (aged 5 and 3 at the time) and while the missus was pregnant with our third!!!

The kids love the outdoors. Our kids are now 12, 10 and 6 and reckon our desert explorer trip during June/July this year along the Oodnadatta Track, Central Australia and the Flinders Ranges was their best holiday yet. Enjoy life and the outdoors while you can, I say.

            Cheers. 8)

Papo, Welcome to PP, can i suggest you get out with the WA crew on some trips and gain some experience in the confidence of experience drivers so if you get into trouble you have some help to get out, the best way to learn is out their doing it. The WA guys are a great bunch of guys.

                    Happy New Year All!

I'm new to the forum, new Toyota's, new to a Prado and absolutely love it! Just bought a Kakadu, and enjoying the comfort and luxury of it. I come from a Jeep background and have done a lot of hardcore 4wd'ing, traded in the JK Wrangler for the Kakadu for several reasons. Main one being a growing family, needing the space and comfort of a touring vehicle. The Prado seemed to fit the bill perfectly, and more. I hope to learn as much as I can from other Prado owners, particularly anyone with a lot of experience with all the electronic gizmo's in the Kakadu! I don't plan to do anything hard core with the Prado any time soon, but will definitely be taking it off road - bush and beach, so it will be great to learn the best way to use the electonic 4wd components as i'm very much used to simple frot/rear live axles locked and ready to go...so many buttons and options to choose from in the Kakadu it's almost overwhelming.

Anyhow, just wanted to do a formal introduction, the name is Paul - from Brisbane - and mad keen to get out there in the Prado!

Hey there, been on the fringes lookin in, i am on heaps of forums but just got around to joining

alas, after owning my prado we are moving on to a 200 series (and what a jump it is!) but the 90 series RV will stay in our family as a 3rd car

1998 prado rv (2.7 big block)
                      manual
                      silver pearl

bought new, we have done 200,000kms and apart from a knock sensor failing it has been bug free

when it was 2 weeks old i gutted the interior and fitted a comp stereo system, and it is there to this day(but will be pulled out next month) and i also fitted a set of Enkei 16 by 8 rims with matching rubber with toyota flares that were painted silver, other than a bull bar and lights it is stock

it is mostly a family bus and business vehicle, i may succumb to lifting it and fitting bigger tyres and take it bush more often, who knows!

                      cheers elwin

Hello Graham, welcome to Pradopoint, I note you are in North Brisbane, that's going to get lost in this thread, could you please update your profile and add it into the location item? That way at some point others may be able to respond to any questions you may have with sites or services near where you live.

See you on the road around Brissie some time.
