Hi myPrado 150 was made in 2012, and before this was porsche cayenne turbo made in 2007 and I can say that the new machine is much better and less likely to break. Very cool of course gift to his son, probably he is a fine fellow), I can advise you only what is better to take with 4 doors, since it will be easier, but I think you will make the right choice. With regard to insurance, I have been working as an insurance broker for many years and I can advise you to read this site. Http: //www.cheapautoinsurance.com/ How much I would not look for different sites, on this you will find the most current insurance and information about them.
And yes I think you can take his car =)
    Good luck!

    G'day Everyone.
My name is Jon my wife is Danielle and our 7yo son is Zack. We live on the NSW Central Coast. I upgraded a 2007 AWD Kluger to a 2017 Prado so we could get more adventurous with our 4WDing. We do a bit of driving and camping in our Ezytrail Tarwin camper trailer around the Central Coast and Hunter Valley areas. We are doing a trip back to my hometown Broken Hill at Christmas it should be fun heaps of good tracks to play on. I look forward to sharing and learning a few ideas and information with other forum members.
    Cheers Jon.

Welcome guys. @suitcase - sounds like it's already well set up for towing with airbags. Lifting is pretty easy too - watch out for group buys. @agsryd - I like the Fortuner too, but give me a 150L fuel tank any day.

    Hi all
Just purchased a 2013 SX 3 door. Certainly a bit different to the old Rodeo. Hope to use it for many a year to tow our 12' off-road van around the country. Currently has ECB bullbar, UHF and airbag helpers on the back. I will no doubt want to pick people's brains about suspension sometime in the future.
    cheers

    Hi folks
I recently decided to try out this 4wd thing and settled on an old Prado for my first one. So I'm the happy owner of a 1999 Prado Grande with an ARB bar, spotties, and UHF. It also has a dual battery set-up that's going to need some revision as both batteries are jammed in beside the radiator. This has probably contributed to the crack in the inner guard. Thankfully that crack is very small and I'm off to get it repaired and reinforced this afternoon. Honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed the crack if it wasn't for posts on this site showing me what to look for. This old bus has already been around Australia - I know that because it has had all it's services done professionally and they were done in the Pilbara, Townsville, Davenport and here in Perth. Hopefully I can get a few more k's out of her yet :-)

Thanks Bob. We saw a few 200 series 'Cruisers in the UK, but the Prado size was a little easier to handle in traffic - but still a tank. On the matter of the Roks, they are incredibly capable. Ours went for a quick trip from Birdsville to Poeppels corner and back in a day handling the desert dunes with ease. Now it's time to move on to a lounge chair ride.

    Cheers

    G'day all

Ok, 1st time Prado owner, but drove one around Scotland, England etc. last year for a few thousand miles. (They seemingly have not heard the term 'Prado' over there.) Previous Tojo's have included an FJ40 (noddy wagon) and FJ60 with the standard accessories of rust from new and burning exhaust valves. I have just moved to the Prado from an Amarok which was a faithful and fun ute for 150,000 km.

The reason for moving to the Prado is it is built from the ground up as a wagon unlike the MUX's, Everests, Fortuners, etc. After test driving all of those, they were obviously modified utes with much of the ride and noise of their predecessors. The other ground up wagons in the popular market are the Land Rover and Jeep variants. Enough said! That left either another Rok (brilliant ride for a ute) or a Prado. The MfW&F said a Prado was the choice and I must admit, I couldn't really disagree.

Looking forward to the words of wisdom from the forum and plenty of Km of travels from the Prado.

    Wally
