            Hi all,

Our family (Cam, Kim, Ashley (9) and Indigo (8)) recently bought ourselves a 2004 TD Prado (white), and have been getting up to speed on PP. I originally wanted to buy a Range Rover (we used to have a Classic before the kids came along), but it would seem that common sense prevailed....

It is an ex-Telstra vehicle, with about 190k on the clock, but looks in good condition, has a complete service history (at every 5k), and I think I got it at a good price.

It has a few accessories, such as side steps, roo bar and front spotties. Will add a UHF radio soon, and would also like to add a roof rack/basket and possibly an awning.

I need to sort out some front recovery points, but after looking at the posts here I'm still not sure what my options are. The ARB bar doesn't have them at the moment, and ARB in Morphett vale weren't very helpful when I asked if I could fit them. I've seen the Outback Ideas ones, but I'm not sure if I can fit them with a bar.

Being a GX there is no air in the back, which is a bit of a bummer as one of the kids tends to get car sick, and fresh air can help. I thought I might be able to 'add it', but after reading some posts here it would appear to be a non-trivial exercise.

Looks like our first trip away is going to be the Robe to Beachport run in March with a few friends.

              Welcome Kim Cam Cam kim..

Yes, air in the back is a big job. Not worth attempting.

I think from memory there was a post on the recovery hooks for the earlier ARB bar? Possibly fitting the Outback Ideas ones.

Enjoy the forum, good to se anoher Adelaidian here.

                        Another newbie here

Have just put a Diesel GXL Auto on Order with pickup at the end of the month.

Have gotten a heap of value from this board in the lead up into the purchase - so thanks a lot to all the people who have contributed. Am coming from a GenIII Liberty RX Wagon so am looking forward to a bit more room for the two kids + dog.

Was initially looking at a pathfinder ST-L or Ti, but 1 test drive in a second hand Prado changed my mind

It's mostly going to be performing soccer mum duties but will be using it to lug a tent around as often as possible, and am planning on dipping the toes into some introductory 4Wding.

                        Options ordered:
                        - Option pack (TC, VDC, Curtain Abags)
                        - Tint
                        - Towbar
                        - Weather Shields and rubber cargo mat

                        Am planning on:
                        - Kenwood Head unit Upgrade (as per forums but will prolly pay for install)
                        - Reverse camera
                        - Sandgrabba mats

So thanks again to all - hopefully will be able to contribute a bit back.
2008 GXL Option Pack 1. TJM T13 Colour coded Bullbar. Lightforce Striker 170's. 2" Bilstein + King Springs lift. Tyredog TPMS. Uniden UH7760 + RFI CDQ5000. Brains Transfer Case Bash Plate.

The recovery point on the newer ARB bullbars can be purchased and fitted to your exisiting bullbar. Not sure on the cost, but it can be done.
