Having worked at Toyota for 7 years from the age of 15 the 120 Prado was the 4x4 I have always wanted and earlier this year I got one, so now I'm looking forward to building her up and meeting like minded people around Adelaide and Australia. Is there any sort of regular get together that goes on in Adelaide?

Welcome hore. Yep, we have a few day trips, weekend trips and the annual national GTG is here in 59 days! Worked for Toyota, hmm, we have a member with some "inside" knowledge lol.

PS- I stopped working for Toyota about 3 months after they bought out the TRD Hilux which was good because it was also when all the problems with the super charger starting coming back in lol

Hi guys,
Another new member has arrived. I have been going through the info on these pages for the last week or so soaking up so much valuable information. I have been driving a 90 series diesel for 7 years and tomorrow I take delivery of new chariot, again going for the diesel GXL manual. It's totally bare at the moment but booked in for the bull bar, snorkel, cargo barrier and tow bar in a few weeks time.

Where abouts was the toyota dealership? I started working in the pre-delivery department at Peter Davey Toyota, worked there for 3 years before going to England for further 3 years. Then when I came back I started work at Northpoint Toyota Windsor Gardens in Pre Delivery before moving to service tech. Had some good fun there and got some good qualifications inc: Auto Air/con Mech and BHP Safety inspector as I did the fitouts for the mine vehicles.
Sadly 4 years went past and I needed a new job. Now working for the City of Salisbury(love it) completely different but it gives me enough money to spend on 4wding and the Prado.

Mate I worked for a dealer ship here in Sydney (NSW). I started as a shit kicker washing cars then the woman who was supervisor before me got pinged for flogging stuff so the spot come up and I had been there the longest and new how the joint ran. I ended up getting sacked as the general manager pissed me off one day cause his bird he was shagging at the time come back pissed one day from lunch and started ranting and raving cause a customer was there to pick there car up.

Told her the delivery time was 5pm not 1pm so she could wait. (was the salesbird attitude that pissed me off) so I told her to get back in her office with her attitude. So she obviously went running back to the general manager she was shagging at them time, he come out upped me for the way I spoke to her. Told him the only way you kept your job is if your a woman, your wear a short skirt, its up around her neck, and he's on top of it. Didn't go down to well. So he told me to piss off.

You always knew who he was shagging at the time cause all the other sales woman drove corolla's and the favourite drove the GT4 Celica. He wasnt impressed when I turned back up in the cars they did for transit damage as I then went and worked at the smash repairs the next day.

He didnt like the fact I was cruising around in his 80 series Sahara when he smashed it and I had the joy of taking it back to him. Should have seen his face when I handed the keys over to him. He ended up getting the sack anyway from sticking his hand in the till. Kharma........Cheers Steve

its always good when you can show someone that getting the sack was the best thing ever. I've been back to Toyota since and love the fact that I earn double the amount then the service manager. Its also a good feeling when you buy a car from a dealership but have to take it back because the rear seatbelts don't engage when pulled and the dealer principal tells you to bring it back so they can take care of and make the service manager apologize to you. Then you realize the service manager is the one that got rid of you 4 year ago. hahaha loved that.

Ha Ha how goods that. When I bought my wide body camry new I bought it from Phil Gilberts as they did a better deal then the dealer ship i was working for. Didnt go down to well but I didnt give a shit, was about the $$ at the end of the day and my pocket not some bimbo trying to rack up sales for herself.

I did love it but when Phil Gilberts sales bird then sent me over to the bird that sells all the rust proofing/paint protection/fabric protection (pro pack we use to call it) and I said Nooooo, and Noooo to air conditioning and window tint. Christ I told them not to register it till i had seen it clean under fluro lights and when it first come onto the lot I said dont wash it till I've seen it.

She thought I was mad. When I went to pick it up I told her where I worked and she wanted to know why the hell I wanted to see the car dirty then clean. I said cause if it comes off the truck with transit damage when its sent to a smash repairers to get fixed they only clean the one panel the rest of the car stays dirty so then you know its been repaired, then when clean under fluro's shows up any imperfections/blemishes in the paintwork... Fussy prick ?? You bet I was, Still am, lol.........................Cheers Steve

Hi everyone, new member, and new to Prado's... Just bought myself a very tidy D4D 2008 auto. Purchased in Victoria and i dove it home..Have always loved these cars... Few little bugs to iron out, ( have been reading up on quite a few write ups here) .

Little probs so far , such as Rough Idle, when cold ( in drive), when neutral selected...runs smooth
Slightly noisy injectors
Headlight globes take turns blowing

Apart from that , going ok... Booked into Toyota Dealership here in Adelaide, and hopefully they can iron the bugs out.. Car is still under stat warranty, so fingers crossed.

Hi there Crusa welcome. You will probably find the issue with shaking when cold in gear will be either injectors or stuffed engine mount or both. At least your under warranty and if a further genuine Toyota is available I would take it out, well worth it. Just make sure its the genuine warranty and not some after market shit, there worth nothing.............Cheers Steve
