      Anyone know about these?
The new VRS line of 9500 and 12000.

OL, 4WD1 and Macquarie 4X4 are all saying that these are the best thing now since sliced bread and recommending them over everything else?
No doubt the highest margins too????

Apparently backed and sourced through Warn as a new line of competition against the likes of Avenger, but dont tell anyone, its supposed to be a secret

Identical pricing to the Avenger with rope.

maybe its worth you doing a visit to O/L this saturday 15th at Narellans open day. supposed to have plenty of reps and deals on for everyone (O/L, 2/9 yarmouth place narellan, 46484650)

and one of the owners is a member of macarthur 4wd club (like me) and i think he said he will do extra deals for club members - in case that helps anyone out

Been doing HEAPS of homework...................cant you tell

The specs alone dont always tell the whole story though.

But at this point I do agree on the fact that the Avenger is a ripper and is one of the winches at the top of the list.

I was hoping someone new something about these VRS winches that they are pushing so hard on.
          The specs are great.
They are nearly infering that its in the 9.5XP league.

If you drove that far you would have to come back with a winch

Yeah, Ive been over that 100 times now and keep coming back to the Mako if I dont get a 12000 lb winch.
A mate has had the Premier winch for 7 years of total abuse on his 100 series and it never even cracks a sweat, hes never serviced it either and hes flogged it.
They are just very expensive once you put rope on one but as good a winch as anything out there.

Can people please post some pics of thier freespool lever location in the ARB bars little oval hole, from vertically above if possible?
Comments on winch, gearbox rotation and ease/difficulty of use?

Although a little difficult to reach the clutch handle due to the spot light position it is still accessible. I prefer to raise the bonnet anyway and then reach in from behind the bar. I have to engage the master switch anyway so power goes to the winch. The switch is bolted to the back of the radiator support panel on the left side just in front of the main battery.

Thanks for the comments guys, lots of valuable info

Im an old fashioned kinda guy and I like to be able to see, feel and touch a product before buying it and taking it home.
Unfortunately in this day and age it has limited my options somewhat.

Ive been looking, feeling and touching my way through the few locally available winches (not wenches )and I reckon the Mako is the one thats going to suit.
It has a very good rap, is light (relatively), designed for rope, is reasonably priced and has a free spool lever thats just excellent in a confined space, one finger operation, great design and so easy to use

Its a "get out of jail free card" for me that may get used 6 times a year maybe and cant justify spending $2k+ for something that may or may not be better.

I think the Mako TDS9.5 with rope will do just nicely.

Premier got a good writeup. When I saw the Bushranger at a 4WD show I thought it looked strangely similar to the Premier. I reckon they're made in the same factory - even the warning stickers were in the same position. At a shade under $1300 including plasma rope and nylon hawse it suited my budget. It's certainily paid for itself - no more forking out heaps in the way of cartons of beer to get friends to come and pull me out of the mud.
