Spiders dont bother me, in fact I had a Huntsman crawl across my face once, no big deal. Also been bitten by a Huntsman but it just tingled for a few minutes.

However others in our house are a little less tolerant of them so its my job to dipose of them. I find the vacuum cleaner is a good way to get rid of them without making a mess like you do squashing them with a broom.

I grew up in a house were oversize huntsmans and hundreds of babies ones was the norm. It wasn't uncommon to wake up in the middle of he night have one on the wall next to my head. I think if I couldn't tolerate them I may have been kicked out.
My other half however is absolutely petrified of huntsmans, completely freezes up and bursts into tears when she sees one. A little unnerving when she is driving. It was a massively steep learning curve for me learning to calm a stressed out crying mess while stopped at an intersection.

A couple of years ago we had some friends come camping with us. Probably never been camping before. Had no gear so used mostly our old stuff. A big old huntsman was between the fly and tent which is nothing unusual bush camping and had just emerged to say hello. The screams from the lady of the house were quite ear splitting. We came a running expecting to see one of the kids missing an arm or head. Suddenly out of the trees came a kookaburra and snaffled the huntsman. Environmentally friendly pest control was all my wife had to say as we walked back to our site.

Couple of years ago at the MIL's in the heat of summer a rather large huntsman ran up the lounge curtains. As I was the only one not on the couch screaming I decided to give it a permanent headache with my thongs. When this thing seen me approaching it started having a go at me. Never seen anything like it. So with lightning speed I tried to squash it between my thongs. By the time the thongs came apart (milliseconds) it was gone. Dam spider’s way faster than me. Bring on the napalm in the form of surface spray. Don't know if I got it but didn't see it again.

I can cope with spiders but if one fell on me in the car it would be the AAMI ad all over 'Prado Style'.

The occasional huntsman spider will do this, have seen it before.

Suppose it just like the occasional human who thinks he is tougher than the rest.

We've had a large huntsman in the house for a few months. Its been patrolling the various rooms and my young kids thought of it as another pet. I'd rather have it than the various pests it eats. Kids were quite sad to see it dead the other day.

Yeah Yowie and I'm one of them when it comes to them things lol. I don't scream like a girl but I sure as shit move like Bruce Lee use to when I feel one on me lol. My wife does the killing and removal of them in this house, If she's not around they normally end up thinner then a bit of paper engraved onto the paint work on the walls and stay there till she gets home. Don't get me started on cockroaches, they freak me write out especially when your about to squash them into next year and the bastards fly at you, then I shit and look like some one with a mental condition swinging my arms about like a mad woman, similar to when I walk through a spider web at night time....can be amusing the wife thinks..........Cheers Steve

                                huntsmans are everywhere up here.

normally in the wet season, we get a couple in the house every week.

only on monday this week, a prado 120 (of all cars) comes into work for some work. now this thing is from katherine, and driven by the fella's Mrs on a daily basis.

monday morning, car up on hoist, inspection finds red back web everywhere, then the led work light comes out and we find 5 Red backs in plain sight, and numerous egg sacks. HOLY SH!T. spider spray the ones we can see, and torched the egg sacs. keep spraying a couple of big mothers jumped out. JEEZUS. NO ONE GO NEAR THE PRADO!

Ring pest control, they come out for a spray. we leave it over night, but there are still heaps of egg sacs.

we lost a couple, but collected most of the ones we could find.

just to boot, the jobs included diff breathers and a snorkel. stuff putting my hand into the unknown.

my shitty phone pic. but you get the idea. all form one car mind you.
