  • Incar camera with speed recording

I know I have asked this question before about in car camera's but the one I ordered didn't turn up etc etc (all sorted paypal) which in a way Im glad as now I thinking of getting one BUT with the built in GPS. When I say GPS I mean the type of camera that records your speed as well (good for traffic infringement if needed or insurance), not one that shows me how to get some where (already have a tom tom). I have done a search on google but have no idea good from bad but I don't want some huge thing hanging from windscreen, some thing nice and neat and want the one that flicks itself on if need be when in carpark incase some one hits the car and good for night as well. Sorry for the long question but want to get the right one first off..........Not many reviews on google with the GPS. Uniden have just released one but no GPS which is a shame, looks and sounds like a really nice unit with twin camera's..........Cheers Steve

The Blackvue DR400G can record the speed. It is a very popular model. However, read the review here

    Also check the Comparo http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

As amts said the blackvue is good stuff! I have used intronic before and they are great.

Check out the autoblackbox website. If you want one with the drop down viewer they don't do them but the cameras they offer are much sleeker and aren't obvious in your screen. The dual camera one on their site is what I'm going to buy for the prado that way it's recording front and back.

A mate of mine has one of these in his vehicle http://www.visiondrive.net.au/index.html they arent overly obtrusive and come with a range of options if you look through the website. I think the one he has runs on a loop, so is always working.

Hi there Jason definitely want the GPS model with all these mobile speed cameras these days and more on the way I think we could all do with one to prove our innocence if we get pinged for speeding but you new you were not, and they can be used in a court of law... Cheers Steve

Hi there jhiace, after reading the report in the link I think I'll stay away from them ones. I do like the style of them tho, shame about the over heating issues and night time quality of the image. Cheers Steve

Night time quality is low on all the cameras but even the cheapest ones are good enough!

Interesting comment given your extreme concern for pedestrians!

I am not concerned about speed cameras because I don't speed!

Don't want to get into debate about speeding as I don't generally speed either but with a lot of cases I've seen on a current affairs I don't trust the cameras, every thing can fail at some time and I would be pissed to be booked for some thing I didn't do. If I'm caught speeding ill cop it sweet if I new I was in the wrong but like most of us I'm not in the position to spend thousands to defendy self in court, so I'd prefer one with GPS also. Cheers Steve

Ended up ordering this one http://blackvue.com/en/contents/sub1.asp?idx=16 plus with the Blackvue Power Magic Pro so enables it to work when the vehicle is parked. Asked about heating issues and so far no issues with this model but he has read of reported issues with previous model but said he didn't physically have any returns for this issue. This one is also wifi so you can down load straight from the camera to my iphone instantly. $400 or $399 to be exact.......Cheers and thanks for the replys and links much appreciated....

Whilst not in the same league as the Blackvue, I have heard good things about this camera
