Why are you getting out of your chair to get the beer, isn't that what the wife or kids are for????

Slackdog is getting new tent poles and making them suit. I might try pulling mine apart and replace the camlock inside as I have a few poles spare. Slackdog mentioned that the camlock material might be the issue.

Lots of ppl have them or ironman
        They are happy with those.
One dudes ironman started to fall apart, it needed some re riveting all good now.
I can second this with Ironman. The rivet attachment to the backing board is p-poor. If anyone picks up an Ironman awning on the road into Vrilya Point I know who owns it. If that is fixed before any corrugation work it would be a decent awning.

On the same trip I had a Foxwing and the quality is great and we were very happy with it. What I found a little frustrating was the need to open it completely if you wanted to use it at all. I said at the end of the trip I would prefer 2 awnings, a side and a rear, that can be used separately.

I have got a 2.5m ARB and have not had any trouble with it. I found the same thing with chasing the small square of shade as the sun sets but brought a wind shield for it off ebay and find it great. Adds alot more shade and stops the wind. It is alot lighter canvas but means it folds up smaller.

(got it for $191.00) it came today. I've mounted it but haven't opened it yet as it was getting too dark. I will set it up hopefully tomorrow and will let you know what I think of it.

JPH I finally got it on and up today. Doesn't look to be too bad quality but the adjustable pole locking mechanism, I can see might wear out prematurely, time will tell but overall look ok. It has a track to add a privacy/wind wall built in too and by the looks of it the awning can be replaced if it gets damaged easy enough. So far overall happy with it """"So Far""""

Thanks Aaron, that looks like it could be a possibility. Unless I can get a great deal on a Foxwing, it may be the sunseeker awning and extension, this way we can have a good area and be more cost effective. We also have the option of adding a tagalong tent for the kids.

Thanks everyone for your replies, there are some great options out there and some great feedback, I hope others can benefit from this thread as well.

                Cheers

                  Hi Everyone,
We will definitely post them up on our Prado store in the future, we are just out of stock at the moment.
                  Thanks.

Have no idea how good they are but they have a few options available. They haven't listed them on their PP store page yet, not sure if they offer a PP discount on any of them.

For my own needs I reckon a tarp hung off the roof rail and using a couple of old tent poles would work too. I don't want to hang anything permanently off the roof bars if I can help it as clearance in car parks then becomes an issue.

I have been looking around for a while now and am starting to Lean towards the Super-peg delux. Looks like its great quality and has some good features. I also love the amount of accessories you can get for it which makes it versatile. This along with a "Fred's arm" will do the trick I think.

I ended up by a Rhino Sunseeker II and awning extension, it was a great deal and easily bolted up to my Pioneer Platform. The Prado is mostly packed, as we are heading off to Fraser Island, so plan on testing the awning over the next week or so.

Thanks everyone for all you advice and help. There were a few contributing factors to my decision, one being location and availability, another being affordability and the third being my options or down the track, such as adding an Oztent taking to the awning as the kids get bigger.

                      Lets see how it goes!
                      Cheers JPH

Love the extension. I'm thinking that and / or the wind deflector mentioned in a previous post might be a good idea for our ARB awning.

The only issue with the wing awnings is if they catch a breeze they can quickly bend up if they are not tied down. Happened to mine on the weekend and I bent one of the horizontal poles. It can happen without warning. (Didn't help that the misses watched and laughed rather than holding it down)

Feel sorry for any planes that fly overhead that get caught in the reflection of the 'aluminised' top layer.

Be interested to find out the weight, wind loading and cost?

Edit: OOPs just re read Bundutec site, cost $1199 for 2.4mtr and $1299 for 2.8mtr
