I'm not sure that helps your case...I was trying, apparently in vain, to support the value of MMHD but, instead, you use it as an excuse to sell MM2!Ian

You will be alerted to Mud Map HD the same way every other app does, via the app store. On your device, go to App Store > Updates > and you should see it there. The Mud Map Project - Help the 4WD community build the most detailed & up-to date Off-road map of Australia. Ian, can you explain what you mean here? Mud Map HD never had the ability to add your own maps, and we certainly didn't advertise that it can.The Mud Map Project - Help the 4WD community build the most detailed & up-to date Off-road map of Australia. I see the notice there this afternoon, thanks for the heads up on the 1.9G, I’ll wait until the last day of our monthly plan and update then if I have the spare download. No plans to go to Fraser anytime soon and anyway, we usually use the HEMA because it shits all over the MudMaps in almost every respect.Originally posted by ursos View PostI did get an update notice but it does a full download...all 1.9GB of it! Funny I notice that the update says "do not buy mudmaps HD" Wish it had of said that when I bought it
I checked the weather report and no forecast of hell freezing over so no way I am going to find out anything that wayOriginally posted by MidLifeCrisis View PostAJ.

I didn't say add your own maps, I said "add other maps, e.g., Westprint, Vicmap"' which are accessible through MM.Originally posted by Mud Map View PostIan, can you explain what you mean here? Other maps purchased from our map store can be downloaded by all our apps, including Mud Map HD.
You may of purchased some maps a while ago and downloaded them into Mud Map HD. If you are also running Mud Map 2 now, those maps can be downloaded again into Mud Map 2.The Mud Map Project - Help the 4WD community build the most detailed & up-to date Off-road map of Australia. Hema do make nice maps its a pitty they don't have it all covered.
I think hema have the best fraser map, might take 45mins to draw it.

I don't normally like to report the experiences of others but in this case feel it is warranted. A club member of my local 4x4 club used Mud Maps on a trip to the Cape last year whilst another member used Hema maps. The member who used Mud Maps had difficulty with the program to the extent that his current position as indicated in Mud Maps was in no relation to where he actually was on the map whereas the Hema App was spot on. This problem was taken up with Mud Maps and still has not been satisfactorily resolved. A full refund was requested from both Mud Maps & Apple but of course no one is prepared to refund the purchase price of the App. Mud Maps was loaded on an IPad. In view of this experience I elected to use the Hema App and have found it very accurate.2012 GXL White Prado. I just assumed this new Fraser map was a new updated version, I just went to compare the old MM one to Hema and turns out MM HD didn't even have a Fraser map, checked the link to the new map and sure enough it's pretty ordinary compared to the Hema.

Comparing that map with the Hema it's the lack of detail and information that stands out. I am not familiar with Fraser but I get heaps more info of the Hema map, camping and other facilities, I don't see the Maheno wreck on your map which is marked on the Hema. The Hema map has countours, swamps marked so you get a feel for the area, such as if I see a swamp area I think mozzies and factor that into my plans.
I want a map for information as well as navigation, too much info can make it unreadable, but too little like most of your maps leaves a lot to be desired.
A bit more feedback, whoever came with the system you have for selecting maps needs a kick up the arse, it's painful scrolling left and right, you don't know what the next map is until you get to it, heaps of blank spaces to scroll through, you don't know whether the best maps is left or right of where you are looking so you can't scroll all the way one way only to have to scroll all the way back. Hema I click on maps, a list comes up, I select the map I want, easy peasy japaneasy!
Here's another for you, I used your maps to cross the Northern Simpson last year along Madigans line, I had to manually add way points by inputting the co-ordinates, well being a technophobe I got a mate to do it for me. Now I have the Hema I see that all the camps are marked, soooooo much easier.
Detail, information, ease of use these are the things we all want.
