Is there a direct compare video somewhere?

Not that I am aware of Josh. I suspect an interweb search may show something. Even if it support Maxtrax, take it with a grain of salt. The world is a stage and you can only really rely on 1st hand experience or of those you trust.

Generic products....
Prefer Maxtrax over knockoffs.
Prefer sorbent toilet paper over black and gold.
Prefer brand name medication over generic medication.
Prefer a quality wine over a cleanskin.
And I never take the cheapest quote for tradespeople.
You gets what you pays for.

I applied the same philosophy when girlfriend hunting, I mean seeking. Still paying for the privilege.....

They are for Nissan owners so they can have the poor mans recovery device aswell as the poor mans 4x4.........

i was in Super Cheap on Saturday looking around and spotted the Maxitrax and the Treds.
I then noticed on a lower shelf the Rydge riders. They are definitely cheaper for a reason.
They look and feel lighter than both the Maxitrax and Treds.

I will invest in Maxitrax.
Any idea where i can get them for a good price South west of Sydney?

HAve also seen the Ridge rider ones, and thought little of them.

I got my maxtrax when Supercheap had one of their 20 or 25% off sales (can't remember which) and it brought the price down to around $220 to $230 for the set.

I'm surprised no one has made a copy with these features, whatever they may be, in mind.

Size, double ended, lug design, ability to bend almost in half without cracking, cold climate version..............

Honestly if the $$ are that important to people then make your own, get a plank of wood, screw in a heap of tech screws to make the heads into lugs and there you go, cheap, probably break at some stage, most likely when your car is about to be submerged, but you saved a dollar.

Otherwise spend a few extra dollars, buy the original and the best, support the guy that invested a huge amount of time and money in proving the concept and forget the Johny come lately's who are riding on the coat tales of Maxtrax.

Could one use this philosophy to say, compare the rear bar you have developed to that of say, Kaymar?

Kaymar being the more expensive (true?) and earlier option of rear bar...

I have to remain a skeptic then, my only encounter with a recovery boards provided zero improvement in a recovery situation, though only having 2 might have been a problem in its own right, snatch straps and persistence were the winners that day

As a general rule I would say Kaymar make the best rear bars, not sure who is responsible for the concept originally, probably not Kaymar.

However the reason I started making the rear bars is because the Kaymar 120 bar is not up to there usual standard. The fit is very poor and they do not go all the way back to the wheel arch.

So mine differs from Kaymar in that it fits better, extends to the wheel arch, and I also have the reversible wheel carrier to position the wheel in the original line when only using one spare,,which as far as I know nobody else has done.

If Kaymar had of made the 120 bar to the same standard as their 150 bar I never would have developed mine.

So to compare all the above to this situation, Maxtrax clearly developed the concept of a moulded plastic recovery track, every other one since is just a lesser version. If someone was to develop the concept further, so it was somewhat different and better, then that would be a different story.
