Water has enormous kinetic force that is often underestimated by people.
I see from the NT News website that one poor (looks like a Prado owner) has already had to be rescued from their drowned vehicle.
I also remember once seeing a car that had been flooded in the Todd River after the waters had resided. The car was 3/4 full of sand. It wasn't going anywhere.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Some people do not take notice of the weather forecast, or don't bother to look at it at all.
In early December, I was in the van at Wallaga Lake van park on the NSW south coast, right on the waters edge.
Started raining during the day and did not stop, the lake started rising slowly, so I kept an eye on the level. Checked it a few times, but the other vanners all had an early night and locked them selves in their vans, they knew the level was rising earlier in the day.
When I saw the poddy mullet and crabs swimming over the grass near the van, it was time to move. The others vanners were still asleep, so woke them, some complained about being woken, so I said "well, look at the *#@*^ water level near your van."
It was panic stations after that, running around in their P.J.s moving cars, vans and boats to higher ground. In the morning, 2 feet of water where their vans were parked, would have flooded the inside of the vans. (should have left some of them there)

I have been to lake Eyre a few times but only seen it dry, if it fills I can see another trip coming up!
Probably more rain then ideal for the farmers but we always say that there is more money in mud than dust.
Cheers Andrew
Lake Eyre is filling up, and the sailing club is getting ready to start sailing (probably the one at Marree)
So from NORTH LOXTON, it won't be too far to head even further north to Lake Eyre, see the water in it and even go for a sail !!!
Dave.
