These are pretty cool but the main issue I see with these is the max flight distance.

Under CASA regulations, you are not permitted to fly within 30m of any person, building, vehicle, vessel.

Given the Lily has the "follow me" mode it would be out of line of sight so therefore a spotter is needed.

What part of the legislation covers being in full control? You could argue this ones under the free flight model provisons
As I understand it the free flight provisions are for unpowered model aircraft, a multi-rotor would not qualify.

If you're out in the boonies, you're fine flying these things. They can make for good pictures and spotting whats up ahead if you feel like it.

The regs for flying them over people and property are just for the obvious - No one really wants one dropping out of the sky on someones scone and then theres the invasion of privacy thing.

CASA really doesn't want to know about them, but has been forced to provide some regulation due to the proliferation of them.

Have fun with them, just don't annoy people. For instance I would be very wary about using one in places like Fraser Island. Quite crowded and lots of opportunity for people to complain. Aerials of the desert would be great.

Depends what time of the year you go. Avoid school hols and Fraser can be quite quiet - particularly up north.

Footy clubs are using drones to monitor positions and tactics during training.

Having one hit you in the head would not be fun.

A person has been killed by one in the USA when it hit him in the head.

If that is the Brooklyn man that was killed in the USA it was not by a drone . It was by a much larger aerobatic RC helicopter.
