Your canvas should get seasoned just from use, assuming you get a dew or a bit of rain on it from time to time. Occasionally you will need to add a waterproof compound to canvas as it won't stay water proof forever.

Wetting down the swag as I have theoretically will cause the canvas to shrink slightly tightening up around any stitching holes. If you got your at 5 yrs old I wou worry about seasoning. As AJ said, maybe a waterproofing spray or something! Google canvas waterproofing products, there's heaps around!

Just had my Adventure Kings Double swag from 4WDSupaCentre delivered, will post back once I've had a chance to set it up. I'm impressed it comes with a carry bag, some don't. Is seasoning with the hose once it's set up as effective as soaking it in the tub?

I had to drop an extra $60 to get myself a carry bag.

          From the Darche website:
          CANVAS CARE

We recommend that new Darche swags are thoroughly wet down before first use. This will ensure that your swag or tent performs well in wet weather by allowing the poly/cotton corespun thread and canvas to swell ensuring the take up of any potential leaks in the stitching.

Do not use soap or detergents on the canvas.
Do not store the product if wet, allow to dry first.
To clean use a soft brush and cold water.
Do not expose to petrol, oils or harsh chemicals.
I took this to mean a good soaking with the hose would be OK. I did do mine twice though.

The bag seems pretty strong, maybe not as good as your $60 one though. It'll be fine for storage but I might end up with another for roof platform duties down the track. The swag seemed a pretty good deal for $299 including a Uniden 80ch handheld twin pack and a LED strip light with velcro backed cover.

Didn't even need the hose for our Blackwolf Turbo tent, just let the High Country rain do the job on the 2014 GTG.

Sounds reasonable to me! the UHFs are probably worth (retail) that much alone.

Current deal on the swag is $229 but only has a couple of ratchet straps as the bonus :-

I only went in there that day because I missed out on the ARB ones at their garage sale.

Are you referring to the strip light? It seems to get offered as a bonus to quite a few of their offers so keep an eye out.

Tell me about it! Our tent is currently stored under our coffee table in the lounge room LOL.

If you go up a size to the Kulkyne Big Boy swag you can get the deluxe mattress option which is really comfy. Either that or their Homestead swag with the stretcher base is pretty cool too. I use the Homestead and my son uses the king single. Anyway you can see the models I have mentioned below.
