Winch recommendations ?

I'm looking for a winch to go onto my ARB bar that is on my 96 Prado.

Not too sure what to get obviously Warn is the bees knees, but is there something else that is good value for money?

And what rating is recommended?

I have a Warn Zeon, whilst its a great winch, I think a Runva is a really good value for money option!!

Can't go past the Runva 11XP. ( IMO) probably the best warranty as well...

Thanks gents! Is it necessary to have a dual battery if you have a winch? Can't see why you would have to as long as the car is running when using the winch.

Nah, they all recommend running the winch off the main battery with engine running for max power.

I am still at the stage of homework to choose a replacement for my old winch. Runva look good, Carbon winches look even better and they can get all parts. The Domin8r looks good at about 1/2 the price of the others. A little sad today to get the following email after I asked them if they keep spare parts like brushes and brush carriers. Kind of puts the Domin8r into the throw away disposable category. Mind you you can afford 2 for the price of the others. Decisions, decisions but not real happy that you can't get parts for the Domin8r. The other way of looking at it would be for the same money you could have 10 years of warranty on a Domin8r Vs the others.

I contemplated the same. I went with the runva 11xp premium though because the 11xp has had a recent price hike which makes the premium a bit more attractive.

The carbon winch is the way a mate of mine is going.

Buying a dominator with the intention of replacing it would mean to me it's not going to die when you need it unless you want to carry one in the back of your car and replace it when you do... potentially in the mud! I bought my winch for independence. A spot gen3 is next on my list!

I might look at the T-Max next time.

Yes buying and replacing a cheap winch every few years may seem appealing but its the point you need it and it doesn't work that sucks the most.
and removing and refitting a winch is a shitty job to do on your own.

I Have a runva never had a problem. Great warranty! One of the only winches that will cover water ingress under warranty.
