Multix garden standbags. $3.50 for 3 at woolies. Can be used to carry almost anything heavy when done right. For firewood, you'd only want to do about a half bag. I use them any time heavy and loose stuff needs transporting.

With firewood, avoid the following.....
1. Agreeing to carry a part of a tree that your wife has decided would make great firewood, even though you're in the Vic high country and there seems to be a fair bit lying around elsewhere.
2. Attaching this piece of tree to the Rhino Platform with a very cheap occy strap.
3. Several hours later, backtracking 20k to the "really nice" campsite because the ladies of the group decide that the chosen campsite is "feral". And it's getting late.
4. Driving just that bit too fast (why would anyone do that?) back to the nice campsite, and on a tight corner lose the bit of tree which cracks the windscreen on its way down.
Clever, me, not.

We use an old AusPost mail bag that someone gave us, canvas and heavy duty. Sits on back seat full of timber. More than enough for a couple of days.Michael and Kelly

Bought a bag of these for a trip and ended up bringing most of them back as they burn for ages - longer than the same size log (I got them on special for $12) and there are no creepy crawlies in them!
