If i was you, i'd be telling my dealer to replace the nudge bar with one for a VX/Kakadu so the sensors i paid for could be used....you would think dealers would know to do this if you optioned parking sensors and nudge bar on a GXL.
How's your Kakadu's front view camera working after installing the nudge bar? My front camera's view is largely blocked by the shiny nudge bar. Wonder if this is an installation issue or a design flaw that's happening to others as well?

Thanks everyone for replies.Checked accessory page and on closer inspection the GXL nudge bar has definitely got front sensors mounted on it. Have queried dealer and told them i want them fitted.
Bar is fairly solid and main reason for getting it is I didn't want full bull bar and want to mount light bar.

If that is what's happened here it's absolutely outrageous and I'd be kicking off about it. You pay money for the sensors on the GXL and then they stiff you with an incompatible nudge bar? Ridiculous.

No.....it's only an inspection, checking nuts, bolts, levels and to correct any issues you may have(such as my low beam adjustment). I'm sure if you insisted on an oil and filter change they'd be happy to oblige(for a price). If i kept my cars long term i'd probably get it done but i usually turn them over every 3-4 years before they get to 100,000kms so don't bother with it.

They put the middle front sensors on the nudge bar itself. See some photos on page 35 of this thread. However, if you have a VX/Kakadu, nudge bar creates a problem with the front camera vision. What's your reason for wanting a nudge bar?

While on the other hand, the new headlights (low beam) are amazing. After spending 240,000km in my 2013 GXL, perhaps I'm not used to looking out into the dark with the new LED lights, but wow it's a massive difference.... those low beams are bright!!!

Also, it doesn't look like the headlight adjusting switch is there anymore. My mate who was driving in front of me at night was complaining how high the headlights were shining.

Can only speak to the good over the gxl: the leather interior is better than the add-on option of the gxl, largely because it also includes leather in the door and centre console. It has chrome trim around the windows and side steps, and combined with the larger sportier alloys sets it apart.
It has the 360 degree camera system, blind and cross traffic monitors and the all important cooler box!

It’s a solid upgrade in my opinion and were it not for the lack of kdss I’d be sticking with it.

So many buttons and features.... will take me quite a while to learn everything. A good read of the manual should help too. I earlier test drove VX as well and can confidently say that Kakadu absorbs the bumps and corners better. Sound system is decent but not spectacular, bass heads will feel the absence of a subwoofer. The vehicle looks good with a nudge bar. Wife is very happy with the dusty bronze colour, son is happy about the dvd screen and I have a very deep hole in my pocket.
I’m currently waiting for a good deal on much the same setup, except no nudge bar and weather shields. We’ve not had a great offer so far (although marginally cheaper than yours but with less stuff) and basically we’re hoping the end of year will spur some dealers on to give us a deal nearer $81/82k.

Test drove the kakadu and it was actual,y difficult to notice much in the suspension, but quite apparent the s+ mode holds the revs longer. I’ve used this as a way to convince the wife it makes sense to stretch our budget for the added safety when overtaking...

Saw a dusty bronze gxl too, it’s a nice colour particularly when the sun catches it. It’ll be our choice, should look great in kakadu trim. Wouldn’t mind seeing a photo or two if you wouldn’t mind obliging!

Just signed a contract on a new 2018 Prado GX, in boring Glacier White . It's a factory order so I'm expecting delivery in March 2018.

In terms of accessories, I got the rubber floor mats, rear parking sensors, and the tow kit.

I only wanted 5 seats, and the extra kit in the GXL didn't really appeal to me, so the GX suits us.

Looking forward to some big trips with the family next year!
