You won't be sorry, just going to have to suck it up for a little while. My new "Limited" version arrives in 10 days, 2 months ahead of previously promised, and after looking very carefully at a demo VX version I realised that my Tekonsha Prodigy electronic brake controller + wiring will swap directly into the new truck, and I'm real happy about that.

    Rgds, Rob

I see. I presumed off-white would be just as noticeable but I suppose it comes down to the quality of the touchup pen.

Do you have any experience/opinion on how a dark coloured vehicle might fade with overexposure to the sun? Again I'm presuming dark colours will suffer bleaching much worse than white cars - or at least the effects will be more noticeable

I would think market forces / demand has driven the increase. Additionally the Prado has the same running gear as the Hiluxs minus the left springs, which has been designed / marketed at 3000 kg to keep up with the Jones.
It would be a slow trip up hills if towing to this revised upper limit. I would believe the chassis / brakes / front and rear axles are the same as the previous generations, so id put it down to Toyota relaxing their conservative enigeering ratings for sales, plus the new drive train 2.8 and 6 speed and possibly up rated cooling systems.
Is their any limitations on the 3000 kg ?, reduce fuel load, is it doable with gvm ?, or just auto Prado and your good to tow 3 tons ?
Or purely accademic to tow close to the limit plus reasonable load in the wagon ?
I think if you were to consider serious towing loads, the big daddy cruiser options would be better ??

Does anyone know what the key differences are to make the 2018 Kakadu a 3000 kg towing capacity compared to the 2010 Kakadu at 2500?

It looks like you can no longer get a beige cloth interior option on the GXL but is an option (as leather) on all paint colours for the VX and Kakadu.
A 6 speed auto V6 GXL with beige interior is going to be even rarer now.....

I read the comment about increased trans cooling to cope with the additional 500kg tow capacity but darned if I could see a trans cooler anywhere.
wonder what actually was changed, it looked identical to mine...
I'll be interested to hear what you think about the VX and how it handles now that they don't have KDSS

Haha....i always find his videos amusing with some good information, but yes sometimes he is cringe worthy.....but i'd rather watch him than some tech head trying to baffle me with bullshit.......and on another note, i tried his Auto Expert brokering service that he flogs in his videos for my new Prado, they couldn't get close to the price i got from a local dealer, $6,000 off the money!!

You're right, part of the problem is the LED low beams(the inner round balls in the headlight clusters) are excellent, white and bright. When you hit the LED high beams(the outer reflectors in the headlight clusters) you get a narrow strip of light above the low beam light line......but it's significantly dimmer than the low beam and doesn't penetrate very far like the old halogens did.
