Although this is for a VX it might help you figure out your costs:Originally posted by JCAT View PostI am going to be entering into a new lease on a 2018 GXL Prado with Leather upgrade, Tow Pack, Carpet Mats, Tank of Fuel with a 5 Year Unlimited K Warranty. I have been supplied with a figure by the lease company which is a FBT Base Value of $63551. My understanding is that that figure includes GST but excludes Stamp Duty, Registration and Compulsory Third Party insurance.
My question is what do the Stamp Duty, Rego and CTP costs amount to ?
If I get a better quote from a dealer the fleet company will go with them, so I need to know what those costs are so I can deduct them from any quote I get.

The 'sports+' mode does indeed stiffen the suspension, it makes the ride noticeably bumpier. I have experimented this by driving over same bumps on different drive modes. In fact I lowered my tire pressure a bit to keep the ride at a comfortable level on sports+ mode which I use quite often. The 'sports' mode (without the +) also stiffens the suspension, but to a lesser extent with lower acceleration as well. The 'eco' mode did in fact give me 1.6l/100km lower fuel consumption reading under reasonably similar 38km stretch. I could not make out much difference between the 'comfort' and 'normal' mode but still experimenting.Originally posted by Snouto View PostTried both myself. You can certainly feel the gearbox hold high revs much longer in the kakadu's sports mode, however I'm not sure you couldn't just replicate the same experience using the auto slipshift setting (the s-,s+ gearshift position). Rumour has it the sports mode in the kakadu also stiffens the suspension and steering but on a test drive that's very difficult to notice. Would be nice to see something official on that, maybe from the handbook?
I think the biggest reason to upgrade is the KDSS, and no doubt Toyota is well aware of this as they deleted it from every other Prado model.
Another fascinating aspect of Prado, as I see it, is the small turning radius. Its about the same as my mid sized sedan!

Removed as our Prado shopping experience in Canberra may not be of interest.Last edited by dryduststorm; 04-01-2018, 08:10 AM. Reason: Removed as I suspect no one would care about such a personal experience.

Just saw on ARB Facebook page that ARB have just released photos of the summit bull bar for the new Prado.

Yeah, totally agree, but budget is as always the pain. I would have gone for that VX if that sales offered me $66000, however he didn't do that. Just put a deposit on a GXL with leather option, tow pack, floor & cargo matt, tank of fuel for $66000, picking the car up in March.Originally posted by sydney_sider View PostIf budget allows, I would highly recommend the Kakadu. You should be able to get it at $82,000 with your options. I paid $84,000 with tow bar pack, nudge bar, window tint (front sides), weather shields (front sides), rubber mats front and back, rubber cargo mat and full tank fuel. In my view, KDSS makes a huge difference in minimising body roll on the road when cornering. The video screen was a hit with the kids and is worth having. Crawl control is a very usefull feature off-road both uphill and downhill.... makes life so much easier. I found the sunroof to be useless though. Kakadu's air suspension has an auto levelling function that prevents the vehicle from nose-diving after breaking and also reportedly keeps the vehicle level when towing (I have not towed yet). Last but not the least.... the sports and sports+ drive modes take away the usual sluggishness out of Prados. They do make a very noticeable difference and make driving fun, especially the sports+ mode. Now, I believe its worth paying extra $10k for KDSS, air suspension, DVD screen, crawl control and sports drive modes. Downsides of Kakadu?..... higher price (but potentially higher resale value), crowded inner console with too many buttons and knobs and difficulty of after-market suspension upgrades for lifting (if you plan to do so).

I don't buy what the dealer said $1000 bucks job, and I believe the repair would go into $3000-$4000 range. I will keep haggling for $71000, however, the best offer I've got over a few dealers inner east is $73000. So if anyone could get anything under it, it would be a good offer at the moment in melbourne.

Your hail damage vehicle offer saves you around $3,000 after repairs worth 1,000. From the repair estimate, it doesn't seem the hail damages are extensive. If this is the case, its worth saving $3,000. However, if the damages are ugly, you are better of paying a bit more for a fresh vehicle. Personally, if I am paying that kind of money, I would want my vehicle to be totally impeccable.

Hi Guys, I have something interesting here. I went to a dealership in inner east of melbourne, which has some hail damaged VX on sale. I've got an offer of $67000, including floor matts and full tank fuel ($200 worth, I guess). As I don't have any experience on buying a car with pre-existing damages, there is also a GXL offer of $58500, a GXL with leather option, offer of $62500. I was so close to put a deposit on that VX, because I wasn't too sure on the repair cost of those dents. The sales guy said all dents would be fixed within $1000 bucks, which I don't believe at all. And he won't give up any further on that price and he was confident that VX would go shortly. I would be very appreciated if I could get some advises here. I may go back tomorrow for that VX if I can make a decision tonight. Cheers!

I read somewhere on pradopoint that manuals go at 300-400 higher rpm than autos, so yours seem about normal. I also observed mine at 110km for quite sometime and the needle seems to stay steady at around 1,650 rpm.Originally posted by rptdprado View PostChecked mine again its 2150 !

@Sydney_Sider - wait until its done a faultless 100K, got you to so many places and back that you never thought possible, created so many memories and it will start to feel like a member of the family. My 120 was hard to let go of, but Toyota hasn't broken the Prado formula yet.
