I was thinking about getting the Dr Air Pro Flow 150L unit.

Im guessing this would be the same size as Thumper?

Anyone had any experience with these?

The Thumper is 160L/min. I'm very happy with mine.

I think you'll also find that quality compressors set-out realistic L/Min whereas the cheapies have the outlandishly high numbers. e/g my previous Projecta 150L/Min was certainly slower than my ARB's 66L/Min (@29psi) current unit.

If the CKMA12 puts out 87L/Min under no load than I dont see how the Projecta was claiming 150L/Min!!
          Cheers

A friend has the Thumper, he has been very happy with it.

I have the SCA Ridge Ryder version of the same thing, it has a better hose/fittings than the thumper we both agreed.

The RR has been very good as well.

i did find this prior before making my decision. obviously the 160L/Min is un-restricted flow but from what i see below looks like it still does a decent job.

              http://www.navara.asia/archive/index.php/t-16620.html

              OK....
I re-did the test again, but this time I did it so I was using the same tyre pressure gauge.

Results were surprising as the Tigerz11 Thumper was quicker than the ARB (CKMA12 High Output On-Board) compressor, but not by much.

              ARB results:
              1min - 10psi
              2min - 23psi
              3min - 35psi
              4min - 46psi

              Tigerz11 Thumper results:
              1min - 11psi
              2min - 25psi
              3min - 37psi
              4min - 49psi

I did the same test by removing the valve and letting all air out of the RHS front tyre. The weight of the car was still on the tyre (ie: it wasn't jacked up)

also found this, being its from 4WD action i wouldn't class it as gospel.

Thanks mate, now, that I've had a day off to really look at it, it turns out the earth wire had becomes detached from the connector under the heat shrink, really easy fix in the end

Nothing wrong with Aldi compressors either, good output, my one not used a lot recently after fitting an onboard ARB (brilliant) but has done good service and dirt cheap.

i agree, Mule. The Thumper seems to be the same design as the Aldi one, but perhaps slightly better construction.

Mate, in the end it was a broken earth connector, really easy to fix!

                        Do not be fooled...

....into paying more than 100-ish smackos for a heavy duty portable air compressor!!

                        Step 1.
Get yourself a copy of Choice Magazine's report from November '13

                        Step 2.
Note that the two top scoring units (Dr Air Flow Pro $245 & Mean Mother Adventurer II $299) look exactly the same AND scored exactly the same in each of the six criteria judged. Note also that each were measured to inflate a "4WD tyre" from 0psi to 40 psi in 165 seconds.

                        Step 3.
Put 2 and 2 together and realise that the two units mentioned above are the same - most likely coming from the same Chinese factories.

                        Step 4.
Search for other units that look EXACTLY the same as the Choice mag winners, but at a more reasonable price - and take a punt that they too come from the same Chinese factories.

IMHO there is a whole bunch of these things on the market that are effectively the same except for the fittings (hoses, pressure gauges, electrical leads). Everyone sells these including ALDI, Tigerz, Iron man, Ridge Ryder and a stack of Ebay sellers.

I bought the "redhead" branded version from Ebay for $100 and it is still going strong after about ten trips. Sure the in-line pressure gauge is rubbish but with the money I save I can afford a genuine Toyota pressure gauge and an annual permit for Bribie Island and a lunch at the Surf Club
