These pics just highlight some more places that I need to remember to clean.Originally posted by jasonhAny chance you can post a picture how you have mounted the unit without the GPC in the cradle, I am looking at possibilities for mounting.

Haven't quite got around to finishing the camera off yet.

I've got all the wiring in to the rear door .... and that's where its all stopped ... for now.
Sure did. It works a treat.Originally posted by pluckerdid you guys work out the Ozi map thingy.
Its just a pity there's no up-to-date 1:50000 or 1:25000 maps of WA.

Perhaps we can organise a swap - my 50000 series of the Kimberly's (albeit about 10 years old - but it is the latest I think) for your 100000 of the state.
In fact I found the 50000 a little 'close' and too much detail for the majority of work. I reckon that 100000 would be a good compromise (but it would be good to have the 50000 as well)
I may make it to Dwellingup - it depends on several issues (I've still got a lot of cleaning up after my 2 month trip). I've still got my car setup for touring and perhaps a few of you may be interested.... (computer/8" screen, cargo barrier, water tanks, fridge setup etc). I'll get around to posting some pictures soon - and yes Leachy, some prices will come to you before then.Violet

Easy question Chippy, I was looking at this myself, with a bluetooth reverse camera and gps screen.
When the unit receives power can it turn on by itself, or do you have to turn it on every time the car is started? I was thinking mainly how it relates to reversing...

That's the bit I haven't hacked yet. At the moment the unit receives its power through the ciggie plug .... but you physically have to press the button to turn it on and turn it off.
While this is really useful in off-roading situations ... where you want the GPS to stay on even if the car is shut down ..... it can become a pain in the arse if you want to just turn the key and drive.
I'm looking at shortcircuiting the on-off microswitch so that the unit powers on and off with the ACC power.
Will keep you posted on how I go.

Good luck with that!Originally posted by ChippyI'm looking at shortcircuiting the on-off microswitch so that the unit powers on and off with the ACC power.
An old fashioned flick switch would be good as well, then you could leave the switch on and wire to accessory as you said.

I think I have the model you are looking at. My Camera isn't bluetooth it its 2.4GHz wireless. When I am driving around I get some reception from peoples TV when they are using an AV sender..Originally posted by BlokemanEasy question Chippy, I was looking at this myself, with a bluetooth reverse camera and gps screen.

Mine turns on when power is detected, but that is when I "sleep" it rather then "power off". To sleep just press the power button, to turn it off press and hold for 3 sec.
I have been playing with the power options, but at this stage I have to manuall turn it off.
Hope that helps..

I cant work this out, i downloaded the code for ozi explorer but it seems you guys all have the cheaper ozi explorer CE version. the website says you need both.
Does this mean I cant copy ozi explorer to my GPS and does there need to be a specific file structure?
The website said CE is for palm tops etc, I dont have a palm top only a GPS so I assumed I needed the other version...DOH!
Also how do you find the settings/config for the GPS as mine is not listed in the options (being a dodgy chinese export)
(In hindsight its easier to just follow Chippy)

You want the WINCE Core Runtime.zip file from here .....
http://www.oziexplorer3.com/ozice/oziexplorerce1.html
This is the one that works on my cheapo chinese GPS unit.

Pomp, unzip Ozi WINCE to a folder on your PC then cut and paste to an SD card for your GPS via a card reader. It will work without the code as a demo version.
If you do put the code you have in, be careful it's the right one for the version you are using. The first one on the e-mail they sent me was for an earlier version and of course I punched in that, and it did not work.
Go through the OZI menu's (Like a windows program, word/excel for instance) and familiarise yourself with them, you should have File, view and map in the bottom right hand corner. If you don't find the File/config menu till they appear. You need to make OZI talk to your GPS, when you see NMEA input you are on the right track. The connect to GPS button is in the map menu. It will do an automatic search and talk to the GPS.
Note: You need Ozi PC to make FULL use of WINCE, import tracks and routes etc etc, but it's not necessary to use it as a moving map or NAV to waypoints.
Note: the maps in this thread for download are ready to use on Ozi WINCE so just copy to your map folders and it should find itself straight away.
Hope all that helps. It's just another windows program to learn.

Cheers Snowy, I'm nearly there the only thing I cant seem to do is find ozi on my GPS, I can still only select the route66 maps.
I did read on here somewhere how to configure this, I know Chippy had the seperate SD card purely for Ozi.
Maybe someone should do a proper FAQ on this stuff and make it a sticky. I know the info is available on the forum but its scattered around in bits and pieces.2008 Charcoal GXL V6
