  • Here's a pic of mine, now with home made sliders.

I'd like to make a tube bar next! I dunno when I'll find the time to do that, tho.

      • Thanks! The sliders did get put to good use on their maiden voyage! It's similar to how the steps got bent on their first 4wd trip.

        • Nice job Carrot.

How did you decide to attach them? Would you mind posting a couple of photos showing them from underneath?

          Cheers,

          Paul.

Hi, they're bolted to clamp on to the chassis at three places on each side, without modifying the chassis at all. I'll post some pics up as soon as I get around to taking some! Here's a preview, and this is why I need 'em:

Its just acceptable and thats about it, but that was after some serious thinking about how to mount it.
If I made one out of steel with appropriate bracing where the right angle bends are it would be as solid as you would want

                      I got some pics...

I was trying to keep the weight down to a minimum (these are going to be used but hopefully not flogged),so I've got the angle triangulated off the chassis to the rails. I think I went too far with the weight reduction thing - everything is 3mm thick. If I were going to do it again I'd use thicker plate, in particular against the chassis, and more bolts. BTW, the lower bolts are genuine Toyota - left over from the body lift.

I'm kinda new to fabricating, don't have a lot of tools, and this is my first go at welding in a long time! But it's fun and I'm learning!

This was at Appin. There are lots of rocks there!

                      • Thanks for that Carrot.

It's good to see people getting in and building their rigs.

I am a firm believer in the built not bought philosophy, now I just have to pull my finger out and start working on all of the bits on my “to do” list.
