  • So, I found that my rear door table was only being used every now and then, and when it was, only part of it. This meant that a redesign was called for. No pictures of the table yet, but I installed a light strip on the rear door in anticipation of the finished table.

This time the power comes from the cargo courtesy light. I had hoped to have the door light come on whenever the door was opened, but I couldn't work out the switching so I have left the operation to the switch on the light. It's just a Jaycar LED light all of 280 lumens, but it should do the job.

    • These are the lights that were installed in the cargo area. Need to find a home for this pair now as I bought 2 sets.

      • Got hold of a bargain from TJM last week which I'm picking up this Friday.

With their End Of Financial Year/Cash Back sale, I thought I'd check on the prices of their sliders. I rang the store in Nailsworth and was quoted $895 minus $150 cash back. Ouch!! Better keep saving for a set of AJ's sliders.
After a couple of minutes I remembered that there was a store in Clovelly Park. So I rang them and got a beautiful surprise, $535 minus $150 cash back. SCORE!!!!
I jumped in the work car and raced down there before they decided to changed their minds. When I walked in the guy I spoke to said that Head Office had updated their price list but not let the Clovelly Park store know. They will honour my quote, but have updated their pricelist.

Now this is a win for me, but how the hell can there be a $350 difference between the old and new price? The product hasn't changed, the demand is presumably the same, what gives?? As it stands I got a bargain, but after all my ringing around to different stores and manufacturers, AJ still makes the cheapest sliders for the 120.

        • How did you get the cargo light out? I've done the light on the top door trim and ran the wires but the cargo light's a bit of a mystery. Had a bit of a pry with a small screwdriver here and there but no luck. I have the same 120.

I don't want to break it.

          • It's easy, you just need to prise the clear cover off with a small screwdriver. There are 2 tabs on each side holding it in place. The grey housing is then leverd out with the screwdriver. Get it in under 1 end and lever it until you can get a fingertip underneath. Then work your fingers around pulling down until it pops out. If you go easy, you won't break anything.

                • Plasti - Dip

Well my son and I had a bit of fun today. We decided that the front grill needed altering. Off to Autobarn and got a can of black Plasti-dip.
After washing the grill and then wiping down with metho, she was ready to go. At first I wanted to peel back the logo to have a little 'bling', but it looks pretty good as it is.

Take a look at the photos and see what you think. This is a whole can which gave me 6 coats.
Next, I'll be buying a bonnet protector and plastidip-ing the back of it.

                  • Like that look! I have the bonnet protector blackened on the back. Thinking of blackening out the Flinders shiny bits also. Was even looking at getting the Sovereign bar powder coated to complete the transformation in the end. I love the grill work mate.

                      Hi Gramps
The grill looks good, shame that you ran out after you started the number plate.

I toyed with this idea as well, but I'm starting to think I want a Sahara winch bar. I like the look of just having the centre loop.

Was a pretty straight forward install except for the drivers side bolts that had to be inserted from within the chassis rail. I didn't get them done yesterday because I was frustrated. It took 10 minutes this morning and a fresh mind to get it done with the use of a screwdriver and long nose pliers.

                              • Temp DRL's

So, I picked up a couple of cheap DRL's from Ebay the other week and got around to installing them today. At this stage they are just temporary. Famous last words.

Working out where to put them was the 1st thing to sort out. I decided that the 'grill' above the number plate of the sovereign bar was a good spot. I had to make up a couple of brackets to hold them in place and all I had was some aluminium C channel. So measure, cut and clean up the edges gives a couple of mounting brackets. The black light bracket and flat ali on the outside and C channel behind all held together with m6x40mm bolts.

For power, I followed AMTS' suggestion and went to the fuse box. You can see his suggestion with this link - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post407602. This means that as soon as I switch ignition on, on come the DRL's. They do not turn off when the Lights are turned on though.

Like I said, they are temporary at the moment but it may turn out that I like them. If that happens, I'll upgrade to a better set (these were only $7.30 from Hong Kong) which will stay in place until the bar is upgraded.
