I'll be calling into NorthWest OffRoad later this week to check out the Ironman plug n play LED awning light kit that they are getting in. Retailing for $35, so I might be going the quick and easy option and just getting the kit (had planned to get all the bits and wire it myself, but I won't have the time to do it before we leave).
I have enough led strip left over plus required power connector if you want it. Can do it as a favour and then you'll owe me one!

I'll be in on that. I'm sure we can work out a return favour at some stage.

And I will just see how it is done and might just use the idea as well.

A piccie of the fuse bank in the rear. Bought a Piranah 4-way fuse bank as it comes pre-wired across one side of all terminals, and I then just have to add fuses and accessory outlets, as required. I actually bolted the top to an existing 6mm nut already within the storage area, and then just drilled and screwed the bottom onto the metalwork. I still need to do a bit of tidying up, and wrap the single insulated wires for some added protection, but ran out of time on the weekend.

Also a photo of where the wires run up to the awning. I will work on securing this better in the awning channel when I get time.

Thanks for the tips (as well as the gear).
Will be working on this tonight

By the way, where did you get the Piranah fuse bank from ?

Our mates at North West Offroad. Cost a bit more than the Super cheap ones, but better made and no need to loop in power supply across all terminals.

Cheers for that. Agree the way the SuperCheap ones are done is a bit of a let-down.
Laid the LED's out and fired them up to show Hels - she's rapped with them. I just need to drop into an electronics place tomorrow to get a length of wire to run and I'll be able to install.

And VK, Smithy has hit a winner with this one. I reckon you'll be doing the install next.

                    • Got around to replacing wiper blades with the Bosch ones. Just got back from a drive in some light rain - what a difference! Quiet, smooth and superb at clearing the windscreen. This and the hilux wiper jet upgrade are a must IMHO.

                        • Thanks ntp. First time I have ever modified any vehicle, and having a purpose (family camping, touring and 4-wheeling) has motivated me to improve it to the point I have now got it to. I don't want to rely on a trailer for all the camping gear, as I would rather tow the boat, so the car needs to be self-sufficient. Pretty happy with the way I have it se up now.

The list of future mods is still there, but nothing high on the priority list now. First big test will be for 5 weeks tent touring with wife, the 3 kids and the tent later this year. Should be a great experience doing the Great Central Road to WA, touring the southern part of WA, and then back to Tassie over the Nullabor.

                            • Found a couple of images from recent vehicle camping trips.

These were all taken before the new suspension was installed, and I know the rig will benefit emensely from the new set-up. Looking forward to October and getting to make proper use of all the recent improvements.

                              • Following Palmer's lead, I decided to acquire a couple of 18W work lights from Mr Internet. They arrived last week.

Got most of the wiring done over the weekend, and just need to bolt the lights on.
