Started on the diff breathers.
Bought a 'kit' from Air On Board on eBay for $45.
So far only got the rear diff done.
I need some adapters to go from the push fittings to the size of the hose for the front diff, transfer and gearbox.
I will Tee the gearbox and transfer together and use the fourth spot for the fuel tank breather.
Made up a simple bracket from flat bar that used two studs coming off the firewall.
Put a loop in near the rear diff to allow for extra movement and for spare if I ever need to square up the end at any time.
OMG!!1! the gearbox breathers are going to be fun! Ran out of time tonight.
Also drilled a hole in the rear of the flip up compartment behind the gear stick (GX) to put the Scangauge II in there. Now I can close it. Previously I had the cable running in from the front.
Hey Brad, I have the same breather kit but had mine installed. So far only the front and rear diffs have been done, still need to do the transmission and transfer case ones. They only used the breather heads, bracket, and hose from my kit; they used joiners to connect to the existing factory hoses. I did get all the other fittings back but no excess hose, not sure if they used all the supplied hose just to do the diffs.
How much of the hose have you used so far? Looks like you've allowed for some movement of the diffs which is a good thing.
Nice build Brad, there must be something about putting off the gearbox/transfer case breathers as I've done my rear diff, need to get a joiner for the front diff and then get off my arse and get the rest done-being a short arse with short arms don't help.
cheers,
Chappy.

Thanks guys. I have just become aware that there are 3 bloody breathers for the gearbox/transfer!!! I couldn't even see them. I will wait till my skin grows back before trying to find the gearbox one, as I have successfully brought the transfer ones up!
Cheers Brad

Brad on the 150 getting to the gearbox breather is not too bad because you can pull it down by unclipping the hose. Anyway those threads have the detail but I agree there are some sharp bits up there so take care.

Had the Prado in at Toyota this week, (Yuck) Had the spiral wiring in the steering wheel for the airbag changed as per a recall.
Also got around to doing the gearbox breather, it's not in a great spot from the factory. Pictured is it's factory location looking in from the passenger side front wheel with the rubber splash guard removed:
I have no idea, we received a letter that is needed to come in for repairs. It's been out of warranty for about a year. Might only apply to the GX as it doesn't have steering wheel controls, so different wiring to the steering wheel? I'd be calling Toyota to find out, we got the letter two weeks ago.
Cheers Brad
