  • Crammy's GXL D4D

Woohoo!! Picked it up tonight and loving it!

Heading out tomorrow to break it in  Should get some good shots to post up. It was a bit dark by the time I eventually got out of it so no photo's yet.

There was only one thing that didn't go to plan and that was the spare wheel cover. It doesn't fit the new Dunlop AT3's even though they're the same size as the AT20's. The tread pattern is deep and chunky. One of the fellas came up with a bright idea of letting the tyre down to fit it on  pppppfffffffffftttt I nearly lost it with laughter...

Anyhow hopefully we can get a refund on it or get some more accessories.

The AT3's have performed very well in the wet so far, they survived the greasy roundabouts of the northern beaches up here. They're very quiet from what I can hear from the bloody quiet cabin. Can't really compare them to the AT20's as I can't remember how they drove.

The manual shift is soooo much better than what I was expecting. My folks have a GU patrol and it doesn't even compare. Theirs is like a truck gearbox. The Prado manual seems to be a shorter and tighter shift.

The D4D has loads of torque and will only get better (especially with a few tweaks!)...

I've got a heap of goodies coming in the next few weeks. Hopefully ARB bar, IPf900XS spotties and tint next week. Dual battery, winch and some new suspension won't be to far away either. My credit card is going to melt

Stay tuned for pics and updates...

Crammy, congrats on the purchases, lots of people have got the hard wheel cover over the 694's when the dealer couldn't, i seen them fit my mates and it was very tight but it went on, you have to get the wiper up get the top over and squeeze it on, don't give up yet.

Yeah we tried everything! There were three of us trying to jam it on... We got it on that tight we couldn't get it off. The tread shoulder is really square which is where I think it was getting stuck.

Hey Chuck, the change over for the AT3's was $800 for 5 tyres.

.... and still no pics !!!!

What gives ???

I figured out what's going on!

Crammy must have talked to dealer into a freebie when he signed up for the Prado. A keg of beer! He is being responsible not driving at the moment and he is sitting back on his deck-chair down by the river with beer in both hands admiring the sparkling new view. The car fridge is next to the deck-chair and the neighbours in the older 4WDs are cooking up the BBQ.

Crammy aint going to move all night guys. Give him a chance. He has yet to sober up and check the Prado out from top to bottom, back to front, inside to outside. Then he has to put all those pre-purchased accessories on.

I will wake up tomorrow morning and the pics will be on Pradopoint with 10,000 views, I can just bet on it!
