i would love to cut a hole in the bonnet and re configure the the air intake, make a custom filter box , like the turbo inter coolers and get cold air induction going thro the top of the bonnet... but mate the coin , just getting by, i'm in the right position , to do it,, work wise with the fab.. but haven't planned anything yet still planning/dreamin... but who knows what it might look like in two years time... cheers mate ...

maybe its the ford old school in me but a "shaker" vibrating thro the top of the bonnet would look nice to me.. just food for thought

the rig had another oil change, new oil filter and new sump washer. full engine bay wash and compressed air blow down,

rotated the mickey t's on the front left as the edge has been copping a work out, added some nulon injector cleaner..

which seems to have made a difference after 100 kays or hard on the throttle ' tar runs.. rig running good at the moment

just ordered front and back bendix pads off ebay and saved a total of $80.. from buying locally.. happy with that. cheers butane

My opinion about the scoop is it looks too narrow and a bit lost. I like the thought of carrying on the black satin theme though.

Have you thought about going with the newer Hilux scoop butane?

Obviously with a petrol you are not dictated to position it over any intercooler, so would purely be for asthetic reasons and maybe a bit of underbonnet cooling?

haven't looked at the new scoop yet, will do... i didnt think the one i'm playing with looked good..

you can see yourself, sump washers don't last forever

few photo's ... this is the old v's new sump washer, i change my own oil every 5 000 kays .. new sump washer, new filter new oil





brake pads changed... the old front pads were down to 2mm ,,, could have machined the rotors but will get some t2 rotors when i get some cash
It took me about 1 hr and 15min the sarvo to change the front and rear pads... easy as.. the feel of the brake pedal is much better..
its only after you do this you realize how bad they were.. will only be better with new rotors



$140 for both sets delivered... love a good deal

boys , just finished going over the build up and realised the dates, in one year ive only put 5k on the rig, told ya's i was broke, 98 is thirsty ,just filled it up for the next outting, so I'll get active soon, havent been driving it at all just washing it and planning , new pads are great, still havent checked behind the rear door seal , or the plugs. hope alls well , cheers butane

Hey Butane - good to see you again! Did you end up finalising what to do with the bonnet scoop and vinyl?

Mate , got a promotion and had me head down ass up in the new level.. settled in was the hard part, rest is down hill, but a far as my rig goes still smick,

my missus is doing well to with her company and pleasing all her clients and friends , but poor old me has too wait, till its quiet,

gave up on the scoop, idea, but not the 41 stickers and the black outta strips on the the bonnet, think that the snorkel is the $ bang for buck . to get my look and the cold air i want,

i have enuff stuff and resources to modify the air intake to make my own cold air induction ,under bonnet style, but i dont think its a step forward for my rig, which brings me back to the decision airtec or safari......snorkel...? more research... low on funds so im in no hurry to decide,

I was talkin forbies ( toyota's ) with one of my customers and his son own's a tricked up hilux diesel, guess where he gets his info from , this site.. tapping in to the knowledge, lol

i agreed and said that the wealth of info here is bullshit, but couldnt talk diesels as I'm a petrol head ( V6 ) still know , but it aint my fortay , so to speak, have set up my gopro that i got for fathers day , on the left side of the revision mirror, gave it a test on the trip to sydney, yesterday, but the footage is smick where i placed the mount , but have too play around and add some extensions so it is more user friendly..

As previously mentioned , we all have our wish list, but from the normal boys buying new 4wd, or recent,,,, the best mod is the throttle mod to fly by wire... it saves alot of $ to remove the factory delay...

I have years of mods and plans but , the boys rate this highly... i new about it from here but the word is out, they used to de-tune engines like the buick motor in the v6 vn commodore, buy starving it from air, as a factory setting , the throttle delay now days seems to be the same, helps them keep their claims lower if they dont go that hard..

i am tossing up to get the throttle adpt. b4 the headers/exhaust... but ive got to make the coin before i can spend it, all good here in the gong, cheers butane

Hiya Butane looks good mate. Do you mind me asking how much it cost you for the whole set up please. You can PM if you like. I have the dash cam which is fine but I like the gopro as you get a full length recording (which I would only use for off road) where as the blackvue dash cam only works in 2 minute (I think its two minutes) increments which is painfull when wanting download as one consecutive video clip......Cheers Steve

think it was about 340ish$ for the silver goprohero3 the extra bull bar mount and one extra helmet mount was about 48 extra, the gopro has a app. so it wifi's to my mobile, and i use my mobile to veiw the camera set up , and full control over settings and captures, start , stop etc.
and free editing software which doesnt seem to hard to use.
