It’s probably been on there for about 12,000km I drain it once a month and in total over that time I would have drained at least 1 cup of oil from it. No matter what you do, Toyota has to prove that whatever you installed was the source of the problem. In my opinion cars now days are build to meet noise and emission laws, not what’s best the the longevity of the motor.
if your going to keep your car for a really long time then install one. If your going to sell it after warranty the don’t install anything. Hope that helps.

First new car want to keep it for a very longtime! Would only upgrade to a 200 but I don’t have $$

thats a fair bit to drain in that little time!

I think now days everything is just made to last until the next model, and there throw always un like older cars wich will last forever such as a 80 series !

I pulled this piece of junk from my air box today.

Also noticed in this video from the UK the air box lid does not have one installed.

A simply pry with a large flat tip screwdriver does the trick. Once its done it can't be undone.

A very slight gain in accelerator response and feels a little less of an effort to drive. It all adds up.

Up to you, just thought id share. Would I do it again? yep.

I had a tune done by G&L Performance in Brisbane. Excellent service and a very knowledgeable family business. I have no affiliation with them however I was just that impressed with their service. I guess thats why their wait times are so big.

              Before:
              127.1HP @ 98KPH
              373.4N.M @ 72KPH

              After:
              152HP @ 118KPH
              454.8N.M @ 72KPH

              Prado now drives great.

Awesome stuff, what was the main driver of getting it tuned? Power? Economy?

Nice, I am trying to be patient about getting exhaust/tune for mine. So many other things I should be/need to spend on lol

According to my tuner the exhaust makes no difference in a power increase unless you really start pushing high end numbers. I installed one because I love loud machines and it also lowers EGT's thus being better for your motor long term.

Mate I have changed the priority on my parts list so many times I can't even keep up. Changes almost daily. A friend of mine says the Prado's are the "Ladies Land Cruiser" So its my intension to have the loudest, fastest, angriest and most obnoxious "Ladies Cruiser" around. But I'm a family man who has had some crazy WRX's in my day and can't have one now. But a late model Prado that can light up 32s" is something I might be able to have. hahahahahah
"hey babe, just taking the kids to "soccer" be back in 10 seconds." hahahaha

I am only now just starting to hear about this Prado = girls car thing as my mates start tagging me in facebook shit. I never worry about that sort of thing, I just buy/choose the car that fits my needs/budget/desire. I needed genuine low range, off road capable, family SUV but did not want anything turbo diesel. What did that leave me? An early 200, which was heavier than I wanted (steep/soft land here so weight is an issue and my 80 struggled). LC was also a V8, so worse on fuel, and the best I found had 100ks on it. There was nothing else modern in 4wd and petrol, only older cruisers/patrols which are no where near as safe or comfy.

Even petrol/diesel aside, it was driving 2 diesel Prados that convinced me I could have a 4wd and not have it be an uncomfortable shit heap as my daily without spending huge $$ as I didn't want to spend more than 30k cash on whatever I bought. I drove Pajero, Fortuner, 3L and 2.8L Prado, Jeep in 3L Diesel and 3.6L Petrol (that petrol engine and chassis combo is very nice to drive, shame the rest of the car is a piece of junk). In the end I found this 150 with 62ks on it for 28k and snapped it up.

Given I've had AWD, FWD, RWD, 4, 6, 8 cyl, NA, single and twin turbo cars ranging from 80kw to 400rwkw, I can find good and bad things about everything I drive and have owned.

Tell your friends to politely go #### themselves

Oh and I'd be really surprised if a full exhaust on a turbo diesel car makes no difference at all? I've never seen a car that couldn't pick up some power from a full exhaust? Did he mean only doing a cat back or something?

After the Exhaust install it felt a little more responsive but it was not dyno’ed before and after. These guys also have a very quick diesel hilux so he might have been talking not worth the power increase for the money spent on exhaust. Didn’t really matter to me because as I said I like loud machines.

It won’t make much of a difference with the 2.8 as it has the dpf and that’s the biggest restriction only way is to get rid of it and that’s illegal and charge the exhaust from the dump pipe back and then you’ll get gains in low down torque like other turbo Diesel engines , but with one on the 2.8 with the dpf will reduce egt as may give a slight note and maybe a tiny increase down low if any
