Found a company in the US www.proclipusa.com who make vehicle specific car mounts for just about anything (including the new iphone) The make for LHD or RHD and specifically have brackets for the Australian Prado.
It is a 2 part system... You buy the braket that fits your vehicle, and then the holder to fit your divice..
I hate drilling holes in the Prado, so I think (although expensive) this works really well for me. It puts the phone in view and in a useable position.
Though it looks like it is covering the air vent, I still get plenty of ventilation.
Thanks for the info and website.

Have you tried the iphone with an ipod cable? I have mine going through the video/audio so I can get all music from iphone. Not tried anything with video yet.

Yep, ipod iterface still works, despite getting a warning saying it is a non compatible accessory (do you want to activate airplane mode?). Sounds great. Wish I had the DXX 7039 so I could see the graphics as well though. The 6039 can not be upgraded. Still pretty cool.
Bump... as there's some great ideas in this thread for those that haven't read it yet.
To placate the missus and help her to store her things, I'm off to K-mart tomorrow to try and find those little baskets to fit into the centre console.

Tell us if they're still at Kmart - our console is filled with all sorts of stuff already and I've been keeping my eye out.
Yes and no. They still appear to be available, however, I only found on of these (medium sized) on the shelf. :?
I took this one and it fits fine by itself. Handy to keep some items easily accessible from within the console rather than having to reach right down and search amongst everything else.
Perhaps you may have some better luck at your store. 8)

Here’s a tip for those of you with IPF lights and that little piece of conduit that annoyingly floats between the light and the plug. If you push the conduit snug up to the rubber grommet on the light and fit a cable tie at the other end (on the cable not conduit), the cable tie is big enough to stop the conduit sliding down the cable all the time
Just did this with my IPF 900XS lights. So simple and effective.
