Can't say the add had any real effect on me. I always wear a belt in all vehicles except one . My 53 Cadillac has no belts inside the car ! They're in the boot, in a bag . It doesn't have to have them . Can't say I always feel safe . When ever we get in it we always instinctively reach for the belts . On the queens birthday long weekend we were followed for about 15 Kim's by a highway patrol officer while she tried to work out whether or not she could remove my license .yeah a double demerits weekend.

I hope you're talking about headlights there Jasen!

Flash your lights here and the driver in front is just as likely to slam on his brakes to teach you a lesson.

If I happen to be in the right lane because the road is congested and I'm driving the speed limit I get pretty peeved at the people who sit up my bum and flash their lights at me. The right lane is not the "get out of my way so I can speed" lane either.

Unfortunately your "attitude" is exactly the sort that will land you at the receiving end of road rage. Save yourself the grief and pull over to the left, let the a-hole go past, give them a friendly "see you later" wave, and relax in the knowledge that you didn't get your face kicked in.

Ummm, that all depends on the posted speed limit, I believe it's 80kph and above the rule/law is "keep left unless overtaking" and you can be booked for it. So if you're sitting in the right lane and not passing people congestion or not (in 80kph zone or greater) you are breaking the law. And the fella with the smartbar has every right to flash you (hopefully with his lights lol)

I personally don't care what speed i'm doing, and even if i'm doing 30 over the limit if someone comes up behind me I am out of his way to let him past then I carry on doing what I was doing.
You just never know, maybe he loves to speed, maybe he's an impatient a/hole or maybe his wife or child is bleeding to death in the back seat and he's heading for help. Show consideration and get out of their way, it only takes a second.

A very sad ending for the family. The guy will have to live with killing most of his family for the rest of his life! Maybe he just doesn't care he can just pro create with another lass and all is good!!?? I know we did not have belts as young kids but I'm now showing my age et al!? I've a very young daughter, her safety means everything to me but getting all the approved seats can be expensive..esp with 3+ kids! Maybe it's a socio economic thing ..a sort of she'll be right attitude....I just know if I was in a bad accident I want to know she was protected as best as possible...I've done my very best in life...that's all one can ask really?

Sorry the right hand lane IS the get the f#*% out of my way lane and people who sit in that lane and refuse to move because they are only doing the speed limit while holding up traffic who wish to overtake really give every other road user the screaming shits . And you really are going to end up on the receiving end of a road rage incident one day.

                    Now that's good advise.
Yes the speed limit is a limit, not a minimum, but most people don't stick to speed limits all the time.
I find myself travelling at 85-90k in a 80 zone here on Melton hwy, because at 80, you more likely to get run into by the majority still doing or trying to do the old 100k limit. Even if your passing a car, very slowly, you have a huge Q of cars waiting to fly by.

Then u have people who think their doing the speed limit ( eg; 96-99 in a 100 zone) are a little annoying. However I don't bother flashing or tailgating, as it can end up as it often end up in road rage.

I understand what you mean, so your not just sitting there to piss everyone off.
It's congested right? So your passing cars? Or at a safe distance behind the next car, waiting for them to get to speed.
So why are they flashing their lights? Well because they are in a hurry :-)
Stuffed if I know he all these idiots brains work, like if your trying to do the speed limit, but there's a car in front of you, or 1000 of them, you can't go faster right, then if they flash, then they are super stupid or not looking ahead.
Ahh stay away from suburbia, head bush!

I'm very sad for them. But really $200 for your kids life is nothing. My sister in law is quite happy to ride round her suburb without strapping the kids in. She wonders why I refuse to let her take my kids anywhere.

A ex neighbour felt people drive too fast, so sat in the outside lane going 5km under to 'prove a point', and 'make them slow down'. She was most upset when the cops pulled her up and explained she was going to cause an accident by frustrating drivers. They didn't fine her though, which was nice.

I dont understand not wearing seatbelts. I lost my father in an RTA. (Collision with a truck). Truckie survived purely because he was wearing a seatbelt. I won't travel in a car without a seatbelt, and won't allow people to travel in my car unless they wear one.

The fact is they save lives. The UK suffered a shortage of organ donors following the introduction of mandatory seatbelt use purely because less people were dieing.

Mate you've obviously never driven on the Monash Fwy, it's not always possible to pull over due to congestion on the road. I move over where it's safe to do so, I don't let myself be bullied into it by bloody tailgaters.

Exactly, I don't go out of my way to piss people off. Living in suburbia it's very rare to get a nice clear run anywhere.

And on topic, yes I always wear my seat belt. Have been in an accident where I thought I was gone (no airbags) and the seat belt apart from a bit of bruising kept me from slamming into the dash or worse. No it wasn't my fault either.

Guys I did use the word "congestion" in my post, in that situation like I said you can't always move over because someone is pacing you in the lane next door.

Do we still have a problem with people not wearing seatbelts?

I toot the shit out of them, but guess wat? They are too consumed with their message to know its them I'm honking at.
Meanwhile I'm on the brakes so they don't swipe me. It's really bad. Screw the seatbelt thing that's old news.

Oh <insert relevant deity here> yes, every second car around here seems to be one of those too. They're so self absorbed they ignore everyone and everything around them. My bloody customers can be like that too, have the phone on the ear the whole time you're serving them. I don't know what these f-wits did before mobile phones came along.
