Same thing happened to mine at Bribie Tin. If he was halfway decent he'd have offered but if he's at the top of Fraser without even a shovel, you're probably out if luck. I do the same as mjrandom now. Good end for me, blunt end when I'm being a Samaritan. I like the idea of payment up front though, otherwise hand them a shovel and grab a coldie and watch.

a mate had the same thing happen when bloke got stuck on a sandy riverbank.
New Maxtrax got destroyed.
But the best part was when the bloke got out of the sand he did't stop to say thanks or anything. he just drove off.
i know most of us like to help others out but, in some cases keep your gear for your use or the use of the group you are out with.Comment

Looks like I'm not alone in regards to having gear trashed when helping other out. I suppose that is why most clubs and trips require each vehicle has there own set of recovery gear.
I'm all for helping as I have had people help me many times. Next time the Maxtrax will be the last resort with a disclaimer of it you wreck it you bought it.
One good story I've heard from a mate was when he borrowed a set of Maxtrax and melted some lugs he bought a brand new set to return to his friend and kept the ones he melted for himself.Comment

It seems to me that the bill should go to Mr MaxTrax...if his product cant do its job without getting all melty, its not fit for purpose. I know that one shouldn't spin ones wheels on them, but when they were developed, Mr MaxTrax would have known this would be a likely occurrence and should have designed them to at least withstand a little bit of heat...Spilsy
