At this stage we will be running the oztent but we are in the market for a camper trailer. I am a little concerned about towing a camper up there tho, my prado has the gutless 1kz engine. I think it will be ok but would like to hear what other people opinions are?

The 1kz with a trailer should be fine for the cape, there isn't anything that requires heaps of power, its all pretty slow going low range stuff along the tele track.

              Cheers Andrew

We swagged it all the way from Melb to the Cape and Back. There was only one place we camped at that I felt a little uneasy but that was more our fault than anything else.

If you want a trailer go for it I had no dramas with the trailer and will be taking it again. I was amazed at the amount of trailers up there . Palm creek is one to watch with a trailer but people choose not to do it even if they don't have a trailer .
                    I wouldn't be worried about you only have a 1Kz .

The only thing more fun than heading North through Palm creek towing the trailer

Is unhooking the trailer and heading back south to pick the missus up

                          Cheers Andrew

I was quite amazed how much she likes the swag. We have just bought our first camper but I expect we will still use the swag on the weekend trips. We wont be able to make it to this trip sorry to say.

Put me down as keen. Won't really know until later this year if it is feasible for me. Was planning on getting friends together to do it in 14 or 15 anyway (this yr already booked out for me with a fraser trip and bathurst). But I'm sure it would be much more fun and safer with a big PP group, many of whom are quite a bit more experienced than me or my friends. I assume it would be ok for non prado friends to tag along too?
